Hampton Inn West Des Moines Lake Drive

The pool was ice cold. Hot tub jets were broke. Our room smelled really bad & the thermostat didnt work. Beds were not comfortable. Staff was great. Breakfast was good.

The location was safe as a solo traveler with belongings in the car.

The bathroom towels were used from the previous guests… they were hanging on the hooks with stains and still damp.

Pam at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We had a large group and she was very accommodating. She went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met.

We stayed at this hotel for 13 nights as we were in Des Moines for a family wedding. In the time we were there our bedding (sheets) were changed once. Our bed was not made daily (as stipulated on the ‘Daily Services’ sticker on the bathroom mirror) our towels were not changed (unless we asked) nor the bin emptied (unless we did it ourselves). Pretty poor housekeeping even though they were on our floor daily….it appeared that if you were a long stay…you didn’t matter. It was disappointing considering how much they charged us p/night. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is quite nice. Some reception staff were quite dismissive when they were asked basic questions (‘I don’t know’…doesn’t cut it). Would I stay here again…no! Disappointing.

Have stayed here many times, this time noted many differences from other hotels we’ve recently stayed in. No microwave, windows have broken seal, so are all “steamed over”, and useless to see out. The bathroom door is so large, you almost need to stand in the bathtub to open and close the door. The fan in bathroom sounded like a motorcycle engine while running. I think we’ll stay elsewhere next time.
