Roami at St. Helene

The location was great and there was free wifi, those are the only positives to our stay.

I received 15 confirmation/verification emails and texts before our stay including at 10:39am on the morning of check in. I then received messages less than 2 hours before 4pm check in saying our room was not available due to ongoing renovations. We were offered a voucher for future stays but no refund, and we were already in town, ready to check in. The front door code didn't work to get us in and the usable room door code didn't work. The listing said this was a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment with a kitchenette available for cooking and storing food; but it was 2 separate 1 bed, 1 bath, non-connected units, with a mini fridge and a coffee maker only. One unit was under long term renovation and that could have been relayed to us at anytime between booking on 9/17 and check in on 10/11. But was only told to us right before check in. The available room was not clean and there were no linens for the futon we ended up needing because the reservation was for 3 grown adults and there was only one queen bed and a futon that we had access to for the first night. The toilet in this unit had to be manually flushed by the chain, there were no coffee cups, and the smoke detector in the renovation unit next door chirped throughout the stay. We were given a second unit starting on the second night of our stay but it was not a balcony unit like we paid for. This room was a bit cleaner, but the toilet seat was not attached and was very dangerous to use, and we could hear some sort of pest running through the attic/roof above us all night. The entire building and pool area are not clean or well maintained. Communication was extremely poor. The elevator is not functioning. No safety features on the doors. And the partial refund we were promised for one night of no unit and a switch to a not balcony unit as not been mentioned again by the management. I travel extensively, but this was the worst lodging experience I have had in 50 years.

Location is ideal - right in the heart of the French Quarter. Bed was comfortable and property was unique. A nice-sized mini-fridge was also nice to have. Once we figured out the door code system, it was easy to come and go from the property. Nice sitting areas and fun, funky artwork.

We either missed the email or did not receive communication ahead of time regarding the need to submit contact information and a photo ID for management approval before receiving the door codes to get into the property. This caused a bit of anxiety as we were traveling in and had not been given the codes prior to check-in time. However, the customer support could not have been more helpful and got us checked-in and all necessary information right away over the phone. Next time we stay there, we will be far more prepared as to the process. Also, if you are staying on the first floor, it can be a little noisy in the mornings with guests going up and down the stairs or congregating in the lounge chairs. But this was a minor inconvenience.

Le climatiseur fuyait à grosses gouttes et personne n’est venu le réparer malgré notre réclamation. La chasse d’eau ne fonctionnait pas. Nous avons dû la réparer nous même. Le personnel d’entretien était bruyant et est rentré dans la chambre alors que nous y étions sans demander au préalable. Il n’y avait pas de fenêtre sur l’extérieur mais juste sur le couloir et ce n’était pas précisé.

The bedroom and balcony were nice. The location was great.

The bathroom was dirty, the shower door was broken. Water started leaking from the ceiling when it was raining one night. It was sooooo loud. Not loud from the city but there was like construction or a trash truck every night around 3-4am that was incredibly loud. There was no elevator. Check in was delayed and they had no where to hold our bags. The people next to us had a room completely under construction and had to leave. Only gave 2 towels and two rolls of toilet paper which was not enough.

The location. Bed was comfy.

The response time was slow in regards to an email I sent 2 days before the trip. Didn't get a response until the day after I arrived. The codes to get in the building and the room didn't work initially, so I had to call customer service. The window to the room could use a curtain as it's really bright from the light coming through from the hallway. The keypad to the room died, and I waited an hour after a long day, mind you, for someone to come fix it/replace the battery. It was ok, and I wasn't mad. It was just really inconvenient and I was tired. The last morning I was there, the (workers) started working on maintenance at 8 am, which is normally fine except for the fact that it sounded like they nailed 100 nails into something. It cause the loudest echo. The walls are thin. I could hear the people in the room next to me talking. The bathroom floor wasn't that clean, they need to sweep and mop. The rug could use a good cleaning too.

Location, location location

The room had not been properly cleaned. A saving razor was lying in the bathroom floor upon arrival. The bathroom had what looked like brown poop water stains in the floor surrounding the toilet. The fan made a noise and had to be turned off to sleep. Other issues as well.

The location of Roami is fantastic. We walked absolutely everywhere we needed to get to because it is so central. Love the quirkiness of the interior design/decor. Very easy access with door codes and no keys to fuss around with and carry. As our balcony was looking over the pool, I am sure that added to the room being nice and quiet (as opposed to being on Chartrese St which could possibly be noisy). Excellent communication with Roami - very quick to reply.

It must be an American thing, but the provision of proper mugs/cups and a kettle to boil water for tea would be much appreciated. There is a coffee drip machine, but if you don't drink coffee??? Wine coolers are provided, but no glassware to drink your wine out of. The ice machine downstairs was much appreciated though.

Well the fact you have to call the main office that’s in another state to fix the smallest issue,, and hopefully it get taken care of soon enough,,And there is a smell in the lobby,,not very like able.

I truly enjoyed my stay. Definitely would come back

Location and Balcony

No staff and then our code to the hotel door stopped working a whole day before check out. Also rooms are very small and in closed.
