"staff were very friendly and House keeping were kind."

5.0

It was central. A beautiful building but needs updated.

The Atrium was looking very sad. Needing plants sprayed and cleaned. Such a beautiful place, and never used. Afternoon tea would have been lovely but no facilities. Waste of space if not maintained. A few flowing plants would have made such a diference.

"Pleasant & comfortable stay."

8.0

We had a room with a sea view at the front of hotel, which is on the promenade, and the hotel is in a good location, being only a short distance from the main ferry terminal.

Although below ground car parking is provided, you have to pay and some spaces are difficult to access. They did not appear to provide an evening meal if you wanted on.

"Our stay was very pleasant and we would certainly consider returning."

8.0

We stayed in the Atrium which was very nice but some of the trees need replacing and the area around the fish pond needed cleaning as it was full of dead leaves. From our balcony we noticed that the support for the roof was the only one to be rusty but we can understand that that is probably work in progress. We would also say that we found the car park a big advantage with having a classic car.

Please see the comments above. Our only other negative comment would be our meal in Sir Norman’s on the Sunday evening. We had gammon steak with egg and pineapple. The gammon was smoked (our fault as we hadn’t checked) but it was also grisly and tough. I persevered but my wife left hers. We did complain at the time and the waiter was full of apologies. Regrettably we didn’t give Sir Norman a second chance for food.

"Large Victorian hotel in central location!"

9.0

Beautiful old Victorian property right on the sea front direct access to the promenade and good location to the town and facilities! Breakfast was fantastic every day! Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Large screen for watching the World Cup football. Parking was available, an additional cost, but convenient. Internal atrium with rooms looked lovely & pool downstairs. Very good stay.

Bed could have been a bit more comfy. Large inward facing sofa in the room could be replaced with a small table and chairs to appreciate the sea view we paid extra for.

"Pleasant stay but more work to be done to reach 4* expectations"

7.0

We had a newly refurbished room which was very pleasant. The Atrium is a nice little area and if you have a room over looking it; the sound of the water feature is quite relaxing. Hotel is well located on Douglas seafront and a stones throw from the shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast was more than adequate with lots of fruit as well as cooked breakfast items. Staff were very friendly. Reception were happy to hold luggage pre check in and post check out. I recommend the New Hong Kong restaurant a 2 minute walk in the highstreet.

Didn’t meet my expectations of a 4* Hotel. More a 3 star. Cleaning rooms every 3 days is unacceptable and expecting guests to go to reception for refills of tea and toilet roll isn’t the solution. Stayed 5 nights and room was only cleaned once. We requested our room to be cleaned after 2 days and the receptionist obliged and wrote it all down. Room was not cleaned. Requested replenishments for tea/coffee area and a bag of items was delivered inside our room. It was so full to the brim and it sounds strange to say, but we couldn’t work out if it was passive aggressiveness or someone being too generous. What I mean by this is 15 bags of tea, 18 milk cartons, 16 sachets of sugar, and I think 10-12 packs of biscuits. We requested packed lunches for a trip we were making the following day as we were up early and paid £9.95 each. The receptionist seemed unaware of this service and was asking us what we’d like despite us not knowing what was on the menu. The following day we went to collect them and they had not been made nor had a record of the request. My mum had to present her receipt to get a refund as they had not realised we’d paid for them also. The swimming pool is deceiving and has sloping sides all the way around, meaning the deepest point of the pool is one tiny spot in the middle. You can only comfortably have one person swim up and down at a time. It was noted in the changing rooms there was a sauna and steam room which were padlocked closed. A shame, hopefully they will be open one day. The atrium rooms are far too hot. Given we visited IOM during a modest 16C average temperature, more needs to be done to keep the atrium rooms cool from the glass roof. Given the rooms have recently been refurbished, I’m surprised to see that there is no air conditioning given it can’t be new knowledge that atrium rooms get stiflingly hot.

"Brilliant, friendly, clean and convenient place to stay in the center of Douglas."

9.0

Our atrium room was very clean and the view out to the atrium and fish pool was rather impressive. The private (paid) underground carpark was very convenient. Location of the hotel was brilliant for the center of Douglas. Staff were very friendly and informative of where was good to eat / drink.

Room was a hot at night but fortunately the fan supplied in the room helped a little bit. Water Pressure on the shower wasn't particularly good but it worked. Minor things would stay again.
