My husband and I drove down to Nashville to spend Christmas with our son who recently moved there. Not being too familiar with the area, we tried to find a hotel that was close to his apartment and had easy on/off access to I-65. Hyatt Place-Brentwood was one of the search results online. To be honest, we were a little apprehensive of staying there after reading some online reviews. There were a lot of complaints about the upkeep and age of the hotel, as well as safety issues with the parking lot. However, It was a convenient location for our stay so we decided to give it a chance anyway. Honestly, we are so thankful we did.
Our first experience was walking into the lobby and seeing it decorated for Christmas. A very cute Christmas tree was prominently displayed right when you enter the hotel. Clearly, an effort had been made to make the hotel look and feel Christmasy as there were decorations throughout the lobby, bar, and breakfast area. Being away from home on Christmas was hard, but this made it so much easier. It was homey and comforting.
We were immediately greeted by Chris who checked us in. He was so helpful at getting us in a room that met our needs and helping us search for restaurants that would be open on Christmas. He even printed out a two page list of options. We had multiple conversations with him during our stay. We even discussed recipes for our holiday stuffings. He made us feel welcome and cared for. Which I don’t think a hotel ever has done before if I’m being honest.
Our safety concerns with parking were eased when we learned the parking lot has a security guard that patrols it. There is an $8 a night fee for that. Aside from that, the parking is free. We’ve stayed in hotels before that had $20 a night parking fees with no security. So this was a completely acceptable charge for us.
The room was definitely spacious. While you could see some age in areas around the hotel, the room was well cared for and clean. It had a larger size LG-TV, a mini fridge, a very nice sized couch, coffee table, and a king size bed. The bed was amazing. I’m picky when it comes to hotel mattresses, and I have difficulty being able to sleep well when I’m away from home. This had to be the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. Anytime I laid on it, I would just nod right off. If I could’ve taken it home with me, I definitely would have. In some of the reviews, there were complaints about the bathroom size. That was valid. It is definitely small, but clean. We don’t pick rooms based on bathroom size. We’re more concerned with the cleanliness and comfortability of the room itself. Also, as a side note, our room didn’t have a microwave. We didn’t need it, but are accustomed to most hotel rooms having those these days.
The complimentary breakfast, included with the stay, runs M-F from 6:30am-9:30am. Saturday and Sunday, it runs from 7:00am-10:00am. It was really good, and they had a wide variety of breakfast foods. The offerings change daily. When we were there, the hotel offered: eggs, bacon, home fries, french toast, cheesy egg/hashroom bake, sausage, hasbrown casserole, along with: bagels, toast, cereal, oatmeal, muffins, yogurt, fruit, milk, juices, coffee, teas, and hot chocolate. Shelika, who is in charge of the breakfast, is a delight to talk to. She cooks, as well as keeps everything stocked and clean. I’d eat her cooking anytime. Everything had flavor. With it being Christmas, we discussed our holiday plans. She remembered our conversations and asked about things the next day. Very impressed with her. She’s definitely an asset to the company.
When our trip came to an end, and we had to leave behind my new favorite mattress, Kelly checked us out. She already knew who we were. She remembered what room were in, explained the charges, sent the emailed invoice after asking if that was our preference, and then told us that they’d love to have us back anytime we’re in the area. We told her that Hyatt Place-Brentwood would be our new home away from home when we drive down to see our son.
I have no reservations about recommending this hotel. While it might have areas that could stand to be updated, it is very clear that the staff here does everything in their power to make everyones stays comfortable and as nice as possible. If anything, I’d say the staff are what makes this hotel location special. Hyatt Place-Brentwood is lucky to have such an amazing and dedicated staff. So to Chris, Shelika and Kelly, thank you for sharing your Christmases with us and making ours so much better. 🎁🎄
