Courtyard by Marriott Riverfront New Bern

We were completely impressed by this hotel. Our room was great! We were lucky enough to have a view of the river. The quaint, historic town is completely walkable from the hotel. We can’t wait to come back.

Courtyard by Marriott in New Bern, NC from Sept 26–28, 2025. Our experience was unacceptable and fell far below Marriott standards. Upon arrival, front desk staff did not acknowledge us, and housekeeping refused to clean our room or provide towels, citing a two-night minimum, while speaking in a rude and hostile manner. Towels were left at the front desk unattended. Our room (226) was never serviced, the air conditioning failed, causing condensation and a soaked carpet, and there was no water or coffee available. We left a comment card and voicemail with General Manager Reg Poteat, who denied any refund request in writing without addressing any of the issues. We then asked him for corporate or regional contact information to escalate, but he did not respond. He has completely ignored any & all of my follow up emails. I’m now contacting corporate

Perfect location. Beautiful view of Neuse River from balcony. Very comfortable king size bed. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Best hotel ever! The staff is what makes the hotel even more so. Gracious accommodating all employees are just the friendliest bunch. Really love staying here

We stayed for only one night- family of four- and had a very nice experience. The parking was super easy, check in was simple, and there were lots of amenities at the hotel. I especially enjoyed sitting out by the pool with my family in the evening overlooking the sound. It was super relaxing and peaceful. Also all shops and restaurants of downtown New Bern are within easy walking distance. Great stay.

We chose to stay at the Marriott in New Bern for a special occasion — one of our guests was celebrating a birthday — and as Bonvoy members, we were told we were being considered for a complimentary upgrade, pending availability. However, it wasn’t until after we checked in and got to the room that we realized we had not received the upgrade — the room had no balcony or view, which is what we had been told to expect. I called the front desk to inquire, and the staff member (I believe her name was Jen) stated we could still receive the upgrade if we wanted to switch rooms at that point. By then, we were already unpacked and settled in. It was frustrating that the upgrade wasn’t simply assigned at check-in, especially since the rooms were available and we were told to expect it. To make matters worse, she reassured me that she “wouldn’t charge us” for the upgrade — even though it was supposed to be complimentary due to our Bonvoy membership and the birthday in our party. This was not something that should have ever been considered a charge. I left a message for the manager (whose name I was told is Reggie) with another staff member, Anna, who promised to give it to him as soon as he arrived. I included both my email address and phone number in the note, but I never received any response or follow-up of any kind. We were looking forward to a special, celebratory experience. A simple gesture that had been promised could have made our stay feel thoughtful and valued. Instead, it felt like we were overlooked. “beautiful view” turned out to be of the parking lot. Very disappointed in how this was handled.
