The Wellington

Central for shops etc. Basic and comfortable, though some stairs were awkward.

Nothing to dislike!

Excellent breakfast options, both continental and full English. I ate the veggie option and it was very nice alongside the pastries/cereal options! Beds were comfy and clean, room was a good size, nice shower.

It was extremely hot weather and there was no fan in the room so very warm, otherwise it was great!

The location of the hotel is very good and convenient. Also, the breakfast was enjoyable with a nice selection.

Unfortunately, the room was extremely worn down and run-down, and we did not feel comfortable at all. The bathroom was the biggest issue and is in desperate need of a complete renovation; the ceiling was covered in mold spots, and there were hardly any hooks for towels. Furthermore, the entire room was noticeably slanted, causing the beds to slope backwards, which made sleeping very uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the temperature during our stay was around 30°C. Since the window could only be opened a tiny crack, there was no airflow, and the room became unbearably hot overnight. It was definitely not worth the money.

The breakfast was excellent

The room was clean but very tired, there were quite a few stains on the carpet, a pigeon in the room, limited electric sockets, dirty taps in the bathroom, no toilet brush

Bike storage and breakfast

Could not use the proper entrance for my bike as there was roadworks going on and access was blocked

Location in the centre of Brecon was ideal for our stay although there were major roadworks/improvements taking place directly outside the hotel it didn't cause any problems.

Have stayed previously at the Wellington, staff friendly and helpful, an old hotel no lift and quite a lot of stairs, so a bit of a struggle after a day out in the Beacons

Handy location in the centre of Brecon. Long term parking not far away. Comfortable bed and good shower.

We weren't told beforehand that there were major road works outside which made getting parking difficult. These should be finished sometime in summer 2026. Choice of plain Continental or cooked breakfast.
