Historic Santa Maria Inn

For being an old historic hotel, it's been wonderfully maintained: beautiful grounds, the lobby with all the wood, stained glass, fireplace, grandfather clock & rotating door, the old English bar, the wine cellar, the restaurant - it's fabulous for anyone who loves vintage. I LOVE that our room had no carpet - all hotels should be without carpet in the rooms as it's easier to clean & more sanitary. Our room was huge too with a bay window & seat/shelf - the downside is that it could've used more seating &/or another table to fill the large empty space between the beds & window (I forgot to take a picture). Some things could've used help, like the cement trash bin & bench near the pool (see photo of outdoor wall Santa Maria ship).

The spa jets are pointed upward or something because it caused water to splash all up into your face, & it splashed around the edge outside of the spa - so forget about just dipping your feet in if you don't want to get wet elsewhere. Also, the website restaurant menu is completely wrong & in need of updating.

The property was centrally located in the middle of the business district. The room was large. The property has a dining room and tap room. It is also near famous Shaw’s Steakhouse and many other restaurants.

The property is in the middle of refurbishing rooms. No sound problems. However, workers used the guest elevators to remove old mattresses and carpets. The shallow area of the pool is dangerous and slippery. I slipped and injured myself. Another guest twisted their foot.

It was scary, dirty, noisy, and very old!!

Love the room we had, was awesome!

The hot tub jets are all messed up, there was no directional filter so the water didn’t come out correctly and it was putting out cold water not hot water.

Very historic feeling - loved the stars on the doors for different people that have stayed in the rooms - kind of sketchy at night time - hallways seem like a maze.

Security banged on my door after midnight asking me for my name and color and make of my car. There was no hot water for shower. When checking out, I told clerk what happened in the middle of night. He said he knew and there was gliche in security system. No apology. The inn is old. Furniture in room was old and scratched up. Doors were dirty.

It was a good location at a very reasonable price. The breakfast at the restaurant which was paid was inexpensive and good quality. Staff was very nice.

We stayed in the old part of the hotel, and it had a smell of an old building. The walls between the rooms were not sufficiently damped and so we got to listen to the festivities on both sides.
