DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty

Lovely hotel and nice facilities. Stayed here with friends for 3 nights and had an amazing time together. The rooftop restaurant was nice. Rooms were real nice and clean. The gym, pool and spa were amazing too. The location of the hotel made it easy to visit the surrounding areas that also had a few restaurants to dine.

Due to my business trip, I needed to check in early. Despite having a reservation, I faced inconvenience for a few hours. I had to pay an amount nearly equal to a full night’s stay. The hotel confirmation only states that early check-in is subject to contacting the hotel, and it does not mention any additional charge for a full night’s stay. I believe the practice applied is not legal. Furthermore, although the hotel manager initially claimed there were no available rooms, a room was prepared within half an hour once I agreed to pay. It is truly disappointing that a brand like this creates such a customer experience.

Review: Not Tourist-Friendly – Poor Experience at DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty (June 2025) We stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty for 6 days starting from June 7, 2025, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. 🌧️ On a rainy day, we requested an umbrella (chhata) at the front desk, but the hotel informed us they do not provide umbrellas — not even one for temporary use. For an international hotel brand, this shows a complete lack of basic guest courtesy, especially for tourists unfamiliar with the local weather. 🤷‍♂️ Overall service was cold and unfriendly, not what we expected from Hilton. There was no effort to support tourists, no local information, no assistance with city programs or events — not even a welcome gesture. 👎 We do not recommend this hotel for international tourists visiting Almaty. It lacks warmth, hospitality, and the basic facilities one expects at this level. We are now seeking more local and culturally welcoming stays elsewhere. This was not the experience we hoped for in such a beautiful city.

Our booking was with breakfast but we were refused the breakfast first . Even our request for food allergies and preferences were informed to the hotel before 15 days by email , but they were not taken care of. Even during the stay the staff was not very cooperative. The hotel hosts many events like seminars etc , and during that time the lifts are not available for regular hotel guests. Should be the last choice.

I stayed in a suite. The configuration is very odd. The living room is like a bowling alley. The room is very long and narrow, which is ill suited to the intended use. When an extra twin bed is added, it is hard to walk through the room. For a family, a suite at this property is a waste of money. Management did not do much to mitigate the problem. They just said the suite met Hilton standards and they had heard this complaint before. Very disappointed.

Separate Hammam and sauna facilities were a pain.

Good hotel in rhe middle of the city, has parking and the Best Hotel Gym i have ever seen. In fact one of the Best Gyms in general. If you are a fitness enthusiasts, this is the Hotel for you.
