DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty

Their is no indoor parking and you cant park the car near the main door even to drop off the bags

The DoubleTree in Almaty is situated just north of the busy Abay Avenue. It is close to Baikonur metro station and the Central stadium. I took bus 92 from the airport to the hotel which cost 150 tenge (around 20 pence). This wasn’t a a particularly comfortable journey due to the busyness of the bus so for my return I booked transport with Welcome Pickups which was around £24. The bus took around an hour and the taxi 35 minutes. My room was very good. Plenty of room and hanging space for clothes. Comfortable chairs, a fridge, a safe, complimentary bottled water and tea & coffee making facilities were supplied. The bed was very comfortable with great pillows. The bathroom was decent although there was no bath tub but a decent shower. Breakfast was good with plenty of hot and cold choices. I enjoyed the fruit which included lychees and mango. The freshly cooked omelettes were good too. I used the bar several times which was pleasant. By Kazakhstan standards, the drinks were fairly expensive. A large beer or a gin & tonic cost around 4000 tenge (about £6). The staff were pleasant and helpful giving advice about local public transport and were able to provide change for the bus and Metro. The hotel is definitely expensive by Almaty standards and the nightly rate is generally between £140-£200. However I used my Hilton Honors points to get 2 nights’ free accommodation.

The property is located well and has all necessary facilities. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

I stayed for 11 nights and noticed that my bathroom wasn’t clean by the end of my stay. Overall, cleaning was fine but some details like wiping the floor and adding soap were missing.

Behavior of staff in general very rude

The Hilton is a very good hotel in Almaty, as you would expect from the brand. I arrived late at night and checked out early the next morning and everything was smooth and quick. My non-smoking room was big and quiet, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast buffet was good with plenty of choice.

The most overpriced hotel I ever stayed with very average service. Visited Almaty for business purposes and stayed in Double Tree hotel for 5 nights. Room is good, spacious and clean. Breakfast is very poor, not matching the price tag for this hotel (paid 300$ per night) Come on guys, really bad. Gym was good with a new equipment as well as SPA and pool. There is not much complaints about the hotel amenities in general but price tag is way too high for such breakfast and service.
