Hampton Inn & Suites San Clemente - Fully Renovated

The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. The breakfast was great and I loved that every room was a suite.

Great stay and Good location for Beach access! The rooms on the backside are less noisy than the front as the Hotel is right off freeway but good breakfast and beds are decent the pool is small but good for a quick swim after beach. Great donut shop and Cafe nearby. The room is good for Families.

Not up to Hampton standard. Only one very slow elevator. Some rooms did not have air conditioners that worked. Was not able to check in until 3:35. I had requested an early check in months ago. Called before arriving and they put me on a waiting list. We went early but was told to come back at 3:00. Long line of people checking in, all had issues of one sort or another. The person at the front desk told us when we checked out that only one computer was working. Family was in from other states for family wedding. That was a recommendation by the venue, which I will give them an update. Thought it was way overpriced. Breakfast was the only thing I can say was okay,

Booked three rooms for two nights for a wedding at golf course adjacent to property. Best parts of the stay were the large-ish size of the rooms, the gym used by the guys in our group and the daily breakfast included in price. Worst parts of the stay was consistent with many of the reviews that I didn’t read until after booking—mostly related to the upkeep and maintenance of the property. Laundry room not working also. Canceled one room because the air conditioner didn’t work. In SoCal in the middle of the summer. Ugh. The desk person said nothing she could do. I told her not acceptable and what other rooms were available with working air con. She said nothing. I said I just checked on Expedia and there were available rooms. She said not in your room class. I said that’s not my problem when you are not providing me with a room as advertised (with air con) for which I paid. Asked for a manager; staff person replied won’t be in until tomorrow morning. Fortunately the folks in my group had gone upstairs to the two rooms with working a/c and they said the rooms are big enough for us to fit four to a room. So we canceled the third room without a charge to me. Had to be clear about that and got a receipt. Bummer was sleeping on a wiry sofa bed for two nights…but at least there was a/c! The parking charge added almost $100 for two cars for two days—the property is not is the middle of town but is bounded by a major road and a golf course. Kinda silly charging parking.

THIS HOTEL IS TRASH!!! Checked in and no air conditioning. I booked with Expedia, and because this hotel is looking to book out every possible room to make money, they booked out rooms with no air conditioning. Not acceptable to rent out rooms with NO RUNNING A/C in the middle of JULY! Also, the day staff was extremely rude, asked for a late check out and was told I can stay an extra ten minutes, this after the fact that they are well aware of the no A/C issue that they made my family deal with. Multiple guests also complained about this. Also, no towels at the pool, they didn't refill their coffee at the front, there were socks and food behind the bed and in the drawers. The place is so run down too, elevator takes forever, I was surprised that was working. Bugs in the room, bed bugs, dirty stained sheets. DON'T STAY HERE TOTALLY GROSS and THE STAFF IS SO DISRESPECTFUL. They don't seem to know that the paying patrons are paying their salaries.

I didn’t like that we paid nearly $900 for 3 nights at this hotel and when we checked in we were informed that we had to pay $22 per day for parking and $50 for “incidentals”! ( whatever that was! Also, when we checked in, there was a wedding party of about 20 people in line and only ONE person was working at the desk! Check-in took forever! The last complaint was that our room was overlooked for cleaning after the first night and we had to demand that they do it!

I typically avoid Hilton properties, but chose this Hampton Inn due to its proximity to a family wedding venue. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a decision I regret. Let’s start with the misleading parking information: our original booking clearly stated parking was free, but we were charged $22 per night. Not only is that dishonest, but there’s no excuse for inaccurate booking information. The lobby displays signage that renovations are scheduled for "Spring 2025"—odd, considering it’s already summer and there’s zero sign of work being done anywhere. The hotel feels tired and in dire need of updates. The rooms themselves were adequate, but the real problem was the staff. Whether severely undertrained or simply incompetent, the service was a mess. We had nearly a dozen rooms booked for our group, and the experience across the board was frustrating. One of the most unacceptable issues: my daughter and her fiancé had to switch rooms due to a leaking A/C unit, only to be moved into a room with no working A/C—during their wedding weekend. How does a hotel make a decision like that? To make matters worse, my mother-in-law tried to purchase a root beer from the front desk snack area and was told it was alcoholic and would cost more. It’s root beer. Turns out the staff member was new, which explains the confusion—but why was she left alone to manage a busy front desk? San Clemente is a beautiful city, but this hotel is not a reflection of it. Poorly managed, poorly maintained, and clearly in need of renovation and leadership. Our weekend was too important to be ruined by something as basic as a hotel stay—and yet, this place managed to do just that.

The location was amazing as far as being close to the beach. However the property was worn out and showed signs of wear. Could use some paint and upgrades. The breakfast was good but after two days of beaching. I was pretty displeased that the laundry was out of order. Lastly I booked a balcony room and the balcony I received was terrible!! I barely had enough room to take a single step outside.

Hotel was quite old and unclean it does not seem to have been standardized according to any corporate Hampton Inn/Hilton standards. To add insult to injury they asked for extra night to let us check out early !
