Hotel Central

The hotel name couldn't be more accurate. It is right in the centre of Sao Tome city and made exploring the town on foot very easy. All the sites are within walking distance. The breakfast is excellent, albeit without a massive amount of choice and there is a coffee shop/bar on the ground floor. When I had to cancel my 2nd stay, the hotel very kindly waived the cancellation charge.

The stairs, (dark wood) weren't lit which made getting up them in the evening a bit dangerous. Being central has many benefits. Unfortunately, quiet isn't one of them. There appears to be an open air nightclub nearby with music playing through the night. The music wasn't unpleasant, but it did make sleeping difficult. The fact that this isn't mentioned in other reviews suggests it's not a regular occurrence.

Very Central and our First stay in Sao tome. A lot of people Like drivers and guides come to this place, so we were connected to a lot of options and people, which was great for us.

Not a lot of the stuff spoke english. Communicating sometimes was a bit difficult. Also the rooms lead to a road that was one of the Main streets-a bit loud at night ä

Excellent hotel in the middle of the city. The aircon works flawlessly.Great water pressure in the shower as well. Would definitely return.

The location is exceptional, everything is in the walking distance from the hotel. The only thing which may more far is a beach where you can swim, but it is no problem with all transport facilities. The personnel is welcoming and always ready to help.

The breakfast was ok, but a bit boring - same thing every day. There could be some more variety, especially taking into account that there are many people staying there - especially some meet meals.

Breakfast was fine - nothing special. Room was clean. Neighborhood was visually not pleasant. However, the whole city is that way. One would not come to visit the city. The people are very friendly and it is a safe city.

When I arrived, I was told to pay the driver 10 €. I flipped out my smartphone to show her that it was included. After some back and forth, she flipped out HER cellphone to prove me wrong. As I can't read Portuguese, I accepted her cellphone explanation - and paid. However, I would like to give the proprietor the benefit of a doubt since something SIMILAR occurred at another place on Principe Island later on. This mis- communication (???) issue should be cleared up so future travelers won't have to engage in dueling smartphones !
