"Vacation Etiquette......."

8.0

Lots to say about this experience...... The Rooms at the Riu Antilles are great! The bed was comfy and the pillows were great. Bathroom and shower were excellent! Hot water, great shower! Restaurants: Italian was fantastic! Great buffet, we had the chicken parmigiana and lasagna. We were full when we left and the arancini was excellent! Krystal was very good. The portions were extremely small, we both had the short rib, flavour was excellent. But we were still hungry when we left. We did ask for a second serving and were told no. Steakhouse was very good. The portions again were small, but the flavours in the lobster and steak were great. Buffet was ok, the food that was supposed to be hot was Luke warm. And the food that should have been cold was warm. But they did have a different theme night each night. You definitely didn't leave hungry. Overall the restaurants were ok. The beach......was beautiful as usual. Palapa are available at 6 am which we did not get up for. Housekeeping was waking us up way too early! We are on vacation and not interested in waking up so early. Let's talk etiquette at an adult only all inclusive resort. Dear Adults, just because this is an all inclusive doesn't mean you have to drink until you're acting like a 6 year old. Also, we do not need to hear you screaming all over the resort that it's your birthday.....you are not 4 years old......it's supposed to be "adults only". The yelling and the tourists acting like children was simply over the top. Not the hotels fault. But due to this reason we will not return to the Riu. The way some tourists were treating staff was disrespectful and simply rude. As an adult I would hope you know your limit when you're drinking..... For those of us that wanted a quiet week of vacation......you ruined it for us with your carrying on. I think children would have been better behaved and tolerable. For our USA friends that travel from Canada, please be respectful towards your northern neighbours. We did ask for a quiet room as we were celebrating our anniversary and our room was directly by the disco. But ear plugs worked great. This hotel has a terrible reputation with the locals simply due to the excessive behaviour of guests. That's sad for a Riu Palace. DO BETTER and please take into consideration you are not the only guest there. Treat staff respectfully, you are a guest on their beautiful island.

"Stay away not worth the money. Poor rude staff."

2.0

Our first time in Aruba for 10th and 20th wedding anniversary for myself and my brother in law. It was extremely windy more then usual all the locals and frequent Aruba travels Told us it’s normally not so windy. So we can absolutely understand and forgive the weather. What we cannot forgive is the absolutely terrible and rude service from the pool bars. Not only was the selection the bottom of the barrel liquor. They were pouring like it was coming out of their pockets how little alcohol they were using in drinks. Jack Danial’s ,Bombay and Tito’s are their top shelf liquor. And when they run out they said the only get 3 bottles per day so they don’t restock the same day. Absurd. Restaurants no appointments first come first serve. People are lined up at them at 5:15 to put their names down even tho they don’t open till 6. Just so u can get a spot. If u try to go to a restaurant at 630-7-8 forget it nothing available. I waited one time at the stake house for 30 min before they open to get table for 4. They don’t even take times we can eat. I wanted to eat at 730 they said no it’s first come first serve so I would have to eat right at 6 pm absolutely stupid. Do not come here. So many people were complaining about this place and the terrible service.

I have been to 8 different Riu resorts and this resort was the most expensive and yet the room was horrible, bad mirror ,horrible shower head. Room definitely needed to be upgraded ,connecting balcony vs partial balcony ...as a black man im used to being ignored however the service was bad I found myself either waiting at the bar a little extra while I watch white people just walk up and get attended to. Had to bring up 5 times to many about why No one has ask if I had a drink or was I served . Overall for 5200$ my expectations may have been high.

"Room keys ,huts ,pool, and cruise ship guests"

10.0

Been to this hotel many times and every time is an outstanding vacation! As many times I have discussed with management that the white envelope has 2 room keys and 2 towel keys. To run the electricity in the room you need to put a key in the slot. New vacationers could put a towel key in the slot and now they go down to the towel hut and ask for 2 towels and now they only have 1 key. Many problems occur at the towel hut because now they can only can get 1 towel and they want 2. A colored key for the slot would eliminate that problem. In the white envelope you get rules and regulations for the hotel. No where does it explain about huts and the pool area. One of the main reasons we go to this island and hotel is for the ocean and pool. Hut etiquette and chair etiquette for the pool is not talked about except for the sign under the hut and a majority of the vacationers never read it. This should be on the rules page and when you check in it should be discussed as a priority because most problems are the hut and chairs. Day passes for people that come from the cruise ships have no clue at ALL. They come down and they think their fee is take whatever they want. Seen it happen way too many times. They take huts, chairs off the stacks of chairs or take peoples chairs. They really need to be educated before they come down for the day!

"Overall, the stay was extremely disappointing especially considering the price we paid—and I will be pursuing a grievanc"

3.0

The property had a few nice aspects. I liked the pool it was clean and a good place to relax. The beach was also nice, and the scenery overall was beautiful. The drinks were decent and refreshing. While there were some things I appreciated, my overall experience didn’t quite meet expectations.

There were several issues that really impacted my stay. It seemed like you need to be part of an “elite club” to receive proper service—otherwise, room service only offered cold food, which was very disappointing. Many of the dining options closed early, and at one point we went to the buffet at 11:00 AM and were denied service. The way it was handled was especially unprofessional, as the staff member simply put her hand up and said “no.” I also wasn’t able to connect to Wi-Fi for the entire trip, which was frustrating. When I tried to formally address these concerns, the manager, Gomez, handled the situation poorly and even hung up the phone during the conversation. On top of that, the food we were served was cold and not enjoyable. They didn’t even have food available for the snack bar. How can that be? Considering the price paid, it was frustrating that so many options were either unavailable, required reservations, or were restricted to elite club members—none of which was clearly explained at check-in. This lack of transparency and accessibility made the overall experience unpleasant and is something that should be reflected in the pricing and clearly communicated to guests.

"Great time at Riu Antillas!!"

10.0

First time staying at Riu Antillas and we had such a great experience! The staff did an amazing job throughout our entire stay, and the level of service was consistently excellent. We especially want to recognize some standout team members: • Jonathan and Debbie at the lobby bar were incredibly professional and attentive, always greeting us with the biggest smiles. • Emma, who we saw at both the Blue White Bar and the lobby bar, was so lovely — friendly, kind, and always attentive. • Gisamella at the Blue White Bar and during the White Party was quick, super sweet, and a pleasure to be around. • Ugo and Frankie were both very hardworking and always pleasant. • Freddie at the lobby bar was exceptionally sweet and kind. A big thank you as well to the beach staff, who work so hard every day setting up chairs and keeping the beach clean and enjoyable for everyone. We also appreciated the security team — always polite, professional, and doing a great job keeping things safe and peaceful, even during busy or lively times. Overall, an amazing stay and we would absolutely return!

"Mid at best"

4.0

We kinda put together a Christmas trip at the last moment and had never stayed at a RIU property before. Given that they seem to be a popular brand we thought we'd give them a shot. Our first night on property was on Christmas 2025 and they had a wonderful seafood spread at the buffet. Well that was the last good meal we had on property as every other meal was meh. The property is very dated and you will get that impression as soon as you enter the lobby for check-in. It's dark, with a heavy old feel with old furniture hasn't seen an update in years. It's a first impression RIU... do better! Just the opposite of the resort lobbies one might see in a relatively modern resort that is open and airy. The room was very basic...almost clinical, with no local design or flair or anything that would let you know you were in Aruba. The patio barely fit 2 chairs and a table. The pool scene was very boring. There was a DJ and "entertainment team" but rather than playing music and encouraging the crowd to dance or get involved, they spent most afternoons playing boring trivia games and name that tune. I get that most of the crowd here was over 40...but so am I and I still like to have a good time. The best thing about this resort is the location. It is situated right on the beach and you can walk right off the property and you're right in the heart of downtown Palm Beach. Restaurants, bars, gift shops, casinos, transportation (the taxi prices are eye popping and there's no Uber). So almost every night we walked off property and visited a different local restaurant and even made our way to O'Niel [sic] Caribbean Kitchen in San Nichols. I would visit Aruba again, I just wouldn't stay here at this property.
