"Fantastic!"

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Service, food and drinks. Shout out to Tessie who looked after us amazingly & has the bubbliest personality along with Scott making sure we were all good! Sunday lunch was delicious, perfectly cooked by the Chef Paul. Finishing off quite nicely with a Happy Birthday treat for my sister. Thank you all, see you again soon 😊

Always stay here when visiting the city as the staff are terrific! Hotel clean, well positioned, really great bedroom design (mirrors, plugs, shelves etc all good, plentiful and in tight place) but STAFF make it. Lovely people xx

"Afternoon tea"

Myself & my husband visited on Saturday for afternoon tea, which was a birthday gift from my son & daughter in law. The ambiance, food & staff were amazing. Tessie shone as was so attentive & friendly huge asset to the hotel.

"A credit to her Team"

I was seen to my table by Tessie, who was a very happy morning person. Not like me at all, but kept making sure i had everything and nothing was too much for her. A lovely woman and full of energy, especially for that time of the day. Definitely a credit to her team.

"NO HOT WATER"

Spent one night in this hotel in October 2025. NO HOT WATER in the morning, so unable to shower or shave. The manager was very apologetic and provided a full refund. He explained that the boiler had failed and there was no hot water throughout the hotel. There was no back up hot water system. I have travelled extensively and never encountered this problem before. Not sure if this is just an example of bad engineering at the Malmaison Newcastle or a wider problem. But for a newish hotel in a major chain it is unacceptable. I will not be hurrying back.

"Excellent Two Night Stay"

We were looked after impeccably. Every member of staff went above and beyond, with a shoutout to Tessie in the restaurant who we had a real good laugh with at breakfast...what a lovely lady. Service in the bar was exceptional too from Shaun, Aidan, James and Matt (apologies if we have missed anyone, you were all fantastic). Last but definitely not least, the chef, who cooked our steaks to perfection, thank you. We will definitely come back at the next opportunity.
