Malmaison Newcastle

This was our 3rd visit to this fabulous hotel. We are big fans of the Malmaison Hotel Brand, but this hotel is by far our favourite. Situated on the Quayside, for us, it’s the perfect spot for a city break. Ten minutes uphill walk to busy shopping area, but the hotel is located in a quieter area on the water, yet surrounded by plenty of fabulous bars and restaurants. We have found the staff to be very efficient, friendly and helpful. Although we opted to only eat breakfast in the hotel this stay, the food is always delicious, piping hot and served with a smile. Breakfast is a must here! Great choice, delicious hot food, and it’s worth a visit just to say hi to Tessie, the friendliest Irish gal who will brighten up any day! The Bar is quite sedate and the perfect place to unwind. We stayed in a suite this time, room 710, with a side view of the river Tyne. What a magnificent room, worth the splurge if you can afford it, but you won’t be disappointed by any of the rooms. Bridge View rooms are the perfect people watching spot too ! The hotel has just had the rooms refurbed, and they look amazing! Quirky, colourful wallpaper and chilled out vibes. Thanks again to all the staff for making our stay memorable.

I visited Newcastle with a friend for a ‘girls’ break’ and decided on Malmaison mainly for its location (which is ideal and right by the millennium bridge). We had a very warm welcome and upgraded to a large double double room which we were thrilled with. The lady behind the desk (sorry I didn’t catch her name) went out of her way to get us a room with the best view which was really appreciated. After a good nights sleep in very comfortable beds, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast made even more enjoyable by Tessie who couldn’t have done more to help us. My overall impression of the hotel was of comfort and warmth made all the more enjoyable by its lovely staff. I will return for sure.

Beautiful hotel on the banks of the tyne. Warm welcome, great food and drink. Jessie was a great host for our breakfast. 👍

We had afternoon tea with a wowcher deal here for 2 family members birthdays. 1st day of the festive afternoon tea menu so think pigs in blankets, little mince pies, spiced apple crumble, spiced muffin..very Christmas feel. We were looked after by Sara on entering who sorted us with our drinks, any type of coffee or tea or you could upgrade to Prosecco. Then we were looked after throughout by Tessie who was just brilliant. Asked everyone’s names, helped us take a photo, even did a special “happy birthday slate” for the birthday women which was a really nice touch. Everytime she came back to the table to check how we were doing or if anyone needed any extra teas or coffees she greeted us all by name, I don’t know how she remembered but was the extra little things like that that go a long way for us older women. Both women are an asset to the restaurant and massively contributed to a lovely couple of hours enjoying views of the millennium bridge .

Just finished a great 2 night stay at this lovely hotel. Super room, comfortable beds, appreciated the bath as well as shower! Breakfast was ace, special mention to the friendly, chirpy ‘Tessie’ who had the breakfast room running like absolute clockwork. We’ll be back! Tina and Jody

The staff were so friendly, in particular restaurant staff (both evening and breakfast). The hotel was clean, rooms well maintained and I would definitely visit again.

We had tickets to see Bastille at the Utility Arena and decided to stay at the Malmaison to make a proper break of it. It was lovely. The room was spacious with a beautiful view. The bed was comfortable and all was topped of by a wonderful breakfast. Tessie's customer service skills were exceptional. She showed a genuine interest in all of her customers and one felt really well looked after without her being intrusive or being over the top. We would highly recommend a stay and if your are lucky you might get served by Tessie. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Went for Sunday lunch on 9th November food was absolutely delicious,lovely ambiance, our waitress Tessie was brilliant very attentive and helpful

Just had Sunday lunch using a Wowcher voucher. Shown promptly to our table at 120pm, we were offered a jug of water while we looked at the wine list. Glasses of wine were quite reasonably priced, we had 1 each. We had the Chef's Table which consisted of 2 lots of soup, bread, pasta salad, salad, red cabbage salad, meats, potatoes, small glasses of prawn cocktail. The bread was very tasty! We had a selection of the cold items, the serrano ham was delicious and good quality. After a short wait, we had our mains of roast beef and yorkshire pudding, served with 2 roast potatoes, side dishes were red cabbage, carrots and cauliflower cheese. The beef was served pink and was very tender. If I had to be critical, the roast potatoes weren't crunchy and the knifes could have been sharper. But all in all, a great quality meal which we very much enjoyed. Our server Amy was great. The restaurant was getting very much busier before we left and the staff coped really well. Lots of afternoon teas coming out which looked good.

Arrived on Sunday evening for the burger and bubbles deal, although the hour was late and the brasserie quiet, the 2 female members of staff (one established, one in training) made us feel really welcome and the food (and fizz!) was absolutely delicious! A really tasty burger and crispy fries cooked to perfection. We will definitely return.
