The Russell Nashville

This place is a way to experience modern dystopia in its fullest. A former community house of worship and celebration turned into a building with pretty glass and nice enough rooms, but devoid of all humanity. It is operated by electronic locks and security cameras. Beware the panhandlers and thieves you may encounter in the parking lot. Both were present on the night I was there.

I really wanted to love this place, and we really did like it. Beautiful place, beautiful surroundings, great walkable neighborhood with beautiful homes, easy access, large and easy parking area across the street. The stain glass is beautiful and the lobby was cozy and welcoming. Very nice that they had luggage closets to lock your luggage in if you arrive early. Also a luggage elevator for just luggage, but we could not figure it out. They had directions, but we couldn't figure out when it was on your floor and how to open the door. The owners were very responsive and everything was well organized to check in and out. The reason for a one star downgrade: The bathroom door is a trendy barn sliding door, and it was very difficult to slide open or closed. My wife gave up and just left it open when she used the facilities. Very loud to open as well in the middle of the night as it scraped across the floor. Room was clean and nice but a bit cramped. This does not factor into the rating because it was not the hotels fault, but a cautionary tale - lock your car door. Our car was ransacked during the night. A few things stolen (Wine and change) and the contents of the car tossed about in their search for valuables.

Everything was great! The layout and attention to detail was outstanding!

What a beautiful and unique building!! Simple, relaxing, and close to everything you could want or need in downtown and East Nashville! I would definitely stay here again, even just to sit in the front lounge and relax with a cup of coffee. It has a silly Photo Booth area in the lounge as well that I think was/is a great addition.

Great stay

This is a unique and charming hotel with a spacious bath/shower. The bed was comfy and the neighborhood was adorable and charming. Great bars and dining options in walking distance. Free parking was great and fast and easy communication. Would definitely book again!

This was a nice stay, beautiful and interesting building. We never saw or heard any other people during our stay. Our room had a skylight to a skylight. There was a window in the ceiling of our room that opened up to the larger room where you could see out of the roof skylight. A little odd, but otherwise there would have been zero windows or natural light in the room. There was a remote control where it could be closed as well. Seems overall like a nice area, but our Lyft driver told us someone had recently been mugged nearby. We never felt unsafe, but it's good to keep in mind. There is parking across the street that we utilized with no issues. Fairly close to a lot of restaurants and bars, but I didn't want to walk it at night. Comfortable bed! Enjoyable stay for an overnight.

This was truly a unique experience and more than just a stay at a hotel. At every turn I was met with incredible service, hospitality, and overall an others-focused mentality. They are a shining example of generosity. Loved my stay at the Russell to say the least! Great location as well!

Wonderful, charming hotel. Great area to walk around

My family stayed here after a long flight from Europe, and it was an excellent place to crash. The beds were very comfortable, shower had great pressure, there were plenty of electrical outlets, and just a lot of very thoughtful little details. The lobby has comfortable furniture that will tempt you to sit down and look through their selection of books beneath the big stained-glass window.
