We were originally given a room in the gatehouse. It was dirty no seat no mirror n no towels however after complaining the manager moved us the staff were lovely. The new room was fine only issue was a freezing cold shower.

The room carpet was muddy and debri on it showed that it had not been hoovered, the bath panel was just a loose wood panel that had black mould. And there was a large cobweb from the bedside light to the wall.

Pulled up to the hotel and thought how stunning it looked, the first room we were offered had a tired mouldy bathroom. Holes had not been filled in walls where pictures once were and a there was lovely grey outline of where a picture was once hung on one wall, there was also lots of cobwebs above the wardrobe. We got a move to the main house and that room was fab and all of the staff were lovely, big shout at to the young lad in the bar who was great and also the 2 ladies who were on breakfast duty.

"A comfortable hotel with 16th century charm."

8.0

The building is a beautiful 16th century manor house, and the interior still retains a lot of its original character. We were allocated an attic bedroom on the top floor, with a bathroom under the eaves, with a sloping roof. To get there, we had to climb two flights of spiral stairs, and then down a smaller staircase to the bedroom. There was no shower, but there was a bath with a hand-held shower attachment. The water pressure was very low, so it took a very long time to fill the bath with enough water to bathe. It was only possible to stand up at one end of the bath, as the other end was under the bottom edge of the roof. The floor of the room sloped quite noticeably, so you have to watch your footing, but this adds to the charm of the place.

"Model weekend"

Great location relatively close to Telford town centre which had everything you could want all easily accessible . We were attending a model exhibition in the tc. This hotel provided a countryside feel.

"Nice place with character. "

10.0

A lovely old manor house set off a main road, down a short drive, just long enough to feel away from it all. The staff were friendly and courteous, drinks and evening meal were reasonably priced. The rooms were very nicely set out, and decorated sympathetically to the overall style. We were kindly offered the gatehouse, which is wonderfully quirky but declined as my wife feels the cold terribly, it was chilly November and I didn't want to take the risk, even though I'm sure it would have been fine. Lots of little rooms, again with plenty of character where you could have a drink and while away an hour or two. It's conveniently situated for everywhere in Telford, and the price we got the room for made it a real snip. Maybe not for everyone, but I would certainly stay again.

"Lovely building but needs modernising"

Lovely building but internally very dated, tired and stuffy. Modernisation is much needed in all areas including customer service.

"Disappointing stay."

4.0

This was our second stay in this hotel, but I don't think we'll be booking again. One window in our room didn't close properly - draughty! We had to go and find tea, coffee, milk. The coffee making area was not clean. One plug socket was not working, leaving only one socket for kettle, laptops, chargers etc. Main complaint though was food. The restaurant menu was very expensive and the bar menu very limited - a choice of burger or gammon steak and chips. Nothing in between, so we ended up going into Telford to eat. Had there been more on offer at the hotel we would have stayed there to eat and drink. The place just seemed to be a bit frayed around the edges.
