Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Lake Charles - Sulphur

Our stay was great! Bedding was comfy and staff was outstanding! I’m especially impressed with the dehumidifier in the room. It so important in Louisiana. I will definitely stay here next time we visit our grandchildren!

The property did have a smell. The building is dated and has visible areas that need attention. Overall, the property was sufficient for a one night stay. I will probably try another property if I go back to that area. For being a Marriott owned property, I was a little disappointed. The bed was clean and towels etc were clean, just not up to the level you would expect.

This property ticked a lot of buttons for us. We need an accessible room with AT LEAST bars by the toilet. The Fairfield had that + a raised toilet and an accessible tub. The only thing bad for us was that the beds are low for wheelchairs I assume, but they were hard for us to get out of. The beds were comfortable to sleep in. The breakfast was good with hot offerings. I can’t give them a 5 star because the property itself is dated which is very obvious in the halls and rooms. Still it was very clean. It’s a safe bet for the money. Everything is more expensive today and hotels/motels are no exception. We found on this trip that the cost of a stay doesn’t necessarily equate to the quality of the stay. This property was worth the money.

The peeper is around everything very convenient

On the website it states that it has an indoor pool. But, fails to state that the pool is still freezing cold. The indoor pool was the whole reason for staying at this particular hotel because of the 3.3 rating of it. My grandson stepped in the pool and it took his breath away because it was soooo cold.

This hotel needs some serious help from the moment we checked in. First of all the room didn't even have any carpet and the floor covering was buckling linoleum giving the room a very cold hard industrial feeling. There was no side chair or mini sofa in the room what so ever but only a large dehumidifier going full force off in the corner. The water pressure was dismal and is that a ring around the bathtub I see? Seriously? The hall way were littered with some kinda confetti, the halls and room reeked of roach spray and very unusual for a Marriott, the bed was actually uncomfortable and springy. Finally the breakfast was a disaster.......frozen omelette was inedible and the pitiful sausage patties were literally swimming in water in the warmer tray. In all fairness, I will say that the lady that takes care of the breakfast was extremely pleasant, thoughtful and considerate.Overall tho, very BELOW Fairfield standard room, quality of breakfast food and facilities.
