Sandman Signature London Gatwick Hotel

9pm late pool opening fantastic. 6:30 breakfast start much appreciated. 10 pm closing of restaurant very accommodating.

Parking fees I don’t get, it’s a new trend that’s super annoying. It’s not about the amount but I just wouldn’t charge my customers for parking. The food in the restaurant could/should include better options than fried pub food. It just doesn’t match the level of the hotel.

The room was clean and the beds comfortable except the carpet which looked not fresh sort of dull , like it was old and needed a deep clean. The first room smelt of smoke so we were moved . The food wasn’t great for the price , it was just ok. The worse thing was we were meeting our daughter at the airport and nearly missed her arrival as we were told by reception the bus was from outside Tescos , we waited there and when it did arrive he said he didn’t go to airport but the bus accosts the road and round the corner (which you couldnt even see from Tescos did) we ran to that but ended up waiting another 15 mins no nearer the airport with time ticking , the bus arrived only to be told he didn’t go to airport either , the driver saw how upset I was and let us get on and took us to the actual stop we needed about 1/2 a mile on the other direction. We made it by the skin of our teeth but was stressed and hot . The reception seemed confident the bus was simple and quick and it really wasn’t for us so be wary if you are going to Gatwick airport .

The carpet and misinformation and average but expensive food

Hotel staff were very friendly on check in and at all times, nothing was too much trouble. After settling in first stop was the indoor pool and steam room and that was great, a real bonus in the heatwave! There was also a gym but we didn't use it. We had dinner in the Shark Club Restaurant and it was very good, nice atmosphere, the staff also excellent in there. Breakfast was help yourself buffet style, cereal, fruit juice, yogurt, pastries, cooked breakfast, toast, tea and coffee. Ours was included in the room rate which was a special rate so good value. The view from our 7th floor room was amazing as we could see the planes taking off and landing at Gatwick but also the beautiful countryside behind that and what an amazing sunset that evening! Lovely raindrop walk in shower which was great. Had a fridge and microwave plus a settee with a pull up table in front. Air conditioning was a real bonus given the warm weather and bed was large and comfortable.
