Hotel Silver Spring

I live locally but there was a conference and business meeting we were attending in the Hotel Silver Spring, so we decided to stay at the 2 nights to participate. I felt pretty embarrassed about the hotel in general. The furniture in the common areas - breakfast area and lounge - was very worn and frayed. The rooms could use paint and frankly some mold treatment. We heard from a few sources that a number of people had issues with mice in their rooms. Some people changed hotels after they arrived and others changed in advance after looking at reviews. The worst part in my opinion was what I can only call the resident drunk. He apparently lived at the hotel, and made his presence known both down in the lounge and up on the floor where the meeting rooms were. He was loud and verbally abusive, and from the people who were managing the meetings, hard to get rid of. The bartender knew his drink and served him nearly before he sat down. At one point the drunk got up to get his carry out dinner, which he must have had delivered, and went off somewhere to eat, and the bartender just refreshed his drink and left it waiting for him, knowing he'd return. I can only imagine what the couple of busloads of middle-schoolers who arrived the 3rd day into our meetings thought of him. Perhaps he's related to the manager, but it doesn't speak well of management that they cannot control him and keep him away from the meeting facilities. Breakfast was not awful and the location is good, so it's a shame they've let these issues get out of hand. This is one of the older hotels in town and has changed hands several times. But now there are several nearby hotels with better ratings, so I can only hope this is a problem that will resolve itself.

Overall OK. The bathroom in room 707 was extremely tight spaced.

They overcharge for parking, had NO coffee, no pool, charged $18 for a Continental breakfast. It was an older establishment that was way over priced. We were charged $3 for a cup of coffee and they wouldn't even supply cream. Horrible place to stay!

Small mice in the room. Alarm came on just taking hot shower.

For the price we paid, this hotel is terrible. I regret not staying at one of the other two hotels in the area. The sheets and towels were clean, but otherwise, it was pretty dirty with lots of broken furniture and fixtures. The AC did not work, and the HVAC was blasting hot air making the room a sauna.
