Awesome spot! Would recommend. Helpful/friendly staff, clean up dated rooms. Close to restaurants and entertainment.

It was walking distance in downtown Kitchener. No carpets on the room!

Great location, easy parking and great staff. Rooms are ample in size. We will be back when we are in the area. Staff were excellent, on site restaurant was also very good.

We stayed at the Walper while attending a wedding in the area. The decor and atmosphere were quite nice and match the photos. The room was spotlessly clean. The location is central and walking distance from many good restaurants/bars and some shops. The location and cleanliness are the highlights of this hotel! That said, for the cost per night, the hotel was lacking in some services/amenities that would have made our 2-night stay a true experience and sparked a return. 1. In-Room Service/Mini-bar: None. Two bottles of water and some coffee pods, no option to order food to the room. You have to access streaming services through your phone to watch movies, or watch basic cable. TV cut out several times throughout the stay. 2. Long wait times for Onsite Restaurants: The onsite restaurant/cocktail lounge was very busy due to a wedding party check-out. It took 1.5hrs to receive our breakfast order (bacon & eggs, nothing fancy). That said, the server was fantastic and kept our coffees refreshed regularly. No complaints on the staff! 3. No spa/pool/ sauna: There are no leisure facilities in the hotel aside from a very basic gym. On a rainy day when town exploration was unappealing, we spent the entire day in our room wishing there was room service and more movies. 4. Room comfort: Thin walls and old windows meant we had a lot of noise throughout the night from the elevator, and our windows rattles constantly in the rain. The pillows were hard and thin. 5. Parking??? Parking instructions were vague and confusing. While the hotel "validates" parking, we paid more on our check out bill than at the lot. Only a $2 difference, but it was confusing and we may have paid twice! We enjoyed our stay, but didn't feel it was good value or a "4-star" stay based on the above.
