Hotel Levon Ella

We loved the location above the train tracks. Great for photography. It is away from town about 10 minutes by Tuk Tuk but they are always available. There is a great tiny family owned restaurant within walking distance called River Face with authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The owner and staff at Levon Hotel are great communicators and most accommodating to your needs. A lovely breakfast was served daily. I lovely place to stay while exploring Ella.

Beautiful location in the mountains! Fabulous view from the room. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was totally amazing! Super comfy beds and spotlessly clean. Loved everything about this hotel.

We were looking for a beautiful, luxurious place to stay during our visit to Ella and assumed that Hotel Levon would meet those expectations given its high price and positive reviews. However, it turned out to be a boutique hotel only by name. The property is essentially a house with four rooms and a rooftop restaurant offering a lovely view of the jungle and railway. While the room itself was clean and tidy, it was nothing beyond basic. There was a strong dampness present, with the smell noticeable even in the bedding. Additionally, the hotel’s location is quite far from the town center, making it difficult to reach any other places without hiring a tuk-tuk. A special thanks to the young staff member who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. He kept our room beautifully clean and prepared delicious breakfasts with great care. His kindness truly stood out.

Perhaps my biggest complaint, which I unfortunately didn’t notice when booking, was that the accommodation could not be paid for by card. Since we stayed for three nights, withdrawing that amount of cash from an ATM was quite inconvenient. I believe this is unacceptable for guests in 2024.

Had the most lovely stay at this hotel. - the team running it were so friendly and helpful. My husband was unwell one night so we didn't go out, I asked if there was food we could get a takeout nearby, and the manager offered to go pick it up for me in the rain. - it is about a 10min tuktuk ride into town, which should cost between 1000-1500. - the breakfast was really good, but if you are a a picky eater, tell the staff before as it is cooked fresh. - the view across the balcony into the mountains was beautiful. Highly recommend and would happily stay here again.

What truly made my stay unforgettable was the incredible staff. Fernando went above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience. He arranged a scooter bike for me at a very low price, highlighted all the must-visit spots in the area, and recommended some amazing food options. He was always available, in-person or WhatsApp- even when I was far from the accommodation, whenever I needed anything, making the entire stay seamless and enjoyable. The level of care and attention to detail was outstanding - highly recommend!

Lovely location set in the hills so a bit challenging for the driver but the views are incredible. Staff were wonderful and generous.

It isn’t really quiet day or night. It’s on the train line with station which is lovely, but very loud and coupled with tuk tuks constantly. Also very noisy within the property, can hear the dining room and kitchen above (from 2am) for early departures and washroom noise unfortunately.
