Hotel Bijou - Union Square

Very nice hotel, beautiful interior design in the bar and restaurant. Nice but fairly small rooms. Comfortable beds, clean and well-kept. Friendly and service-minded staff (for example, they arranged a fridge for us without any problem). The downside of this hotel – and actually much of the downtown area – is the number of homeless people. We had people yelling and fighting with each other on the street outside throughout the night. Fireworks were also going off for much of the evening and night. There was also human feces on the sidewalk and street when we went out in the morning. No one ever approached us or behaved unpleasantly, but overall, the neighborhood didn’t feel nice. A shame, because the hotel itself was otherwise great.

DO NOT stay here - I was scammed by this hotel. After checking in, I decided to add an extra night. I was told that I could either do that through Hotel Tonight, or the hotel could price-match. I showed them the HT price, and they agreed to the price-match ($65 vs their $100 rate) and told me to come to the desk in the next morning to complete the reservation. I did so, and was then told that they would not in fact price-match, and that I would have to re-book at the full rate. By that time, the HT rate had increased to $100. Given that I had made the decision to re-book based on the price-matched rate, the hotel had tricked me into staying an extra night for the full rate. I was told that the manager would contact me to discuss the rate, but they refused. The desk staff were completely unhelpful. I’m now stuck with this scammy hotel for tonight. Never coming back, avoid at all costs.

My stay at the hotel with my family was truly enjoyable — from the service to the food, everything was excellent. However, I’ve been trying to get in touch with the hotel via email, and it has been quite frustrating, as I have yet to receive any response. We were informed that the security deposit would be refunded within 3 to 5 business days, but it has now been over a week and there has been no reimbursement or follow-up communication. I genuinely don’t want to get the wrong impression of the hotel, as we really liked it, but this lack of response is concerning. I would greatly appreciate a prompt update on the status of the refund.

The place is ok, but kinda run down. In need of an overhaul.

Overall, everything was great. The area was definitely very sketchy.

I checked in late due to a delayed flight. Upon arriving at the hotel, I discovered that my room was not clean or repaired as promised. It took me an hour to receive my room key and finally get to my room. To make matters worse, the night shift girls in charge of the front desk were unfriendly and unfriendly when I arrived.

Reception was so rude

Noisy, dirty neighborhood. All night homeless making noise and fighting in the street. Racing cars and loud music from cars. Not good for kids. Hotel itself inside was great. No good parking options. Nearby parking for $50 a night.
