Hotel Bijou - Union Square

I booked this property without looking at other reviews so I was a little freaked out when I saw some of the others commenting on noise and safety HOWEVER I had a fantastic stay here. The room was nice and clean - I didn't have any noise issues and generally speaking I felt safe as long as I was aware of my surroundings. It's in a very convenient area with lots of transit nearby and it's very walkable. The staff were incredibly nice - the restaurant looked nice in theory though it was never open when I was there. People are complaining about the breakfast but I don't understand that - you get enough to get you going for the day and even that's big for such an expensive city. I would stay here again if I return!

I took my family for the Giants game and I reserved the rooms three months in advance. At first they weren’t going to give me the two beds room for my son and his friend which are rwo adult men. They eventually found something. The keypads on the rooms didn’t work very good at all. It was a struggle to get in the rooms. Had to pay $40 for overnight parking at a local park garage. There is a lot of homeless people but hey it’s San Francisco you expect that. Other than those issues it was a nice hotel.

So loud. We did not sleep at all even with earplugs. Cars and screaming unhoused people day and night. No parking on site (which was advertised). No free drink as advertised (not a big deal but added to it). When we called they said they could not hold our luggage for us while we ran a race locally. Breakfast was coffee and yogurt. Group of unhoused sleep by the front door of the building

Cute boutique hotel with great employees. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Its not luxury but does have a lot of character that gives you a taste of art deco for a reasonable price. Chris was the best and really does change your perspective once inside. The only downfall is the homless problem right outside and around the corner. There is also no AC, but that wasn't a issue with the weather being cool and the window being operable. Lastly, the hotel is close to public transportation making the location very accessible.

the hotel was surrounded by homeless people and trash. there was a group of homeless people sitting outside the hotel. the hotel locked from the inside out to keep the rif raff out. there was trash everywhere. I didn't feel safe. It was very noisy, there were ear plugs left next to the bed to drown it out. I asked for a blanket and they didn't have any. it was a bad experience.

First time in the USA and this was part 1 of our 3 city trip. Upon arrival unfortunately the area is filled to the brim with homeless, who use a sheltered area right outside the hotel as a shooting up zone and a toilet which we were unfortunate enough to witness. As we checked in, all staff were incredibly friendly, rooms are except what we expected for the price, clean enough and amenities required present. Only other thing that let’s it down is the noise, 4am wake up calls from horns, people blaring what we assume we’re boomboxes and loud cars.

Everyone was super nice. Hella cozy

Asked for one bed, got two beds. Cramped space. No wash cloths for bathing.
