A Stay On The Brae

It was very comfortable, well appointed and convenient to the city having a bus stop right outside.

The host was very kind and helpful. We felt very welcomed. The host gave us a lot of good recommendations to enjoy the city. The bathroom was very big and the shower was very nice. It is not very centrally located but quiet. You'll get into the city in no time as there is a bus stop just on the street.

A lot could be improved, especially tidiness-wise. The "cooking" area is highly improvised and could be altogether scrapped, we think most guest would only spend the night in the appartment and maybe prepare a tea to wind down. The images on the advertisement are rather misleading as the accomodation has seen better days. The furniture is worn out, the bed sheets have some icky stains. Moreover we were suprised of the tiny size of the "appartment". You have a personal access through a balcony door which did not feel very safe and you just have a personal room in the host's house with your own bathroom at least. In summary we were a bit disappointed, we think a bit attention to detail could have made this stay very worthwile.

Graeme is very friendly and helpful giving us tons of local information we found extremely useful. The bus stop is just right in the front of the house and we were happy that we stayed in the suburb as after one day's full-on sightseeing it felt like home coming thanks to the lovely gardens in the property and the neighborhood. And the room was nice and comfy. Would definitely recommend it! Thank you Graeme!

Great location, out of the city but easy access to public transport. Great views over Arthur’s seat. Was quiet. Garden lovely.

Several major plus points: Wonderful hosts; super comfy bed - we slept very well; parking right outside; bus stop also right outside taking us straight to the centre of Edinburgh.

Graeme was a great host. He and his family made us feel welcome from the start and gave us many useful tips for what to do and where to eat. There is a bus stop right in front of the house with buses running every few mins. to the city centre. If we visit Edinburgh again, we would definitely try to stay there a second time.

Lovely owner, very helpful. Bed is really comfortable, good big bathroom. Location works perfectly as there are frequent buses into the city, running until late at night.

Because the room(s) are part of the main house it was a bit noisy at times, with the family using facilities above. The cooking area is very small - could have done with a toaster in it but I suppose that could be a fire risk!

This is the place to stay if you want a real feel for the warmth and charm of Edinburgh and its people instead of a cold impersonal hotel. The stay was lovely! The owner will make you feel like part of the family and will give wonderful support in every need of your visit. The place was really clean and very close to the bus station. We would certainly stay there again next time we are in Edinburgh! It couldn't have been better. Thanks!
