The positive element of the stay was the beautiful grounds and wildlife. The room and hotel was dated but clean. The food let it down. I ordered chicken wings which were too spicy and corn ribs which were actually baby corn again spicy when described as coated in butter. The desert was apricot Bakewell tart with clotted cream icecream, the tart was pretty drab and the icecream was low quality. Smart tv in the room which only gave you free view channels.

Everything - I have now stayed at the hotel three times and it is always a perfect stay! The friendly staff, the pristine and stunning grounds - and the food is amazing!!

Toilet in room 127 doesn't flush properly. Its OK but not great.

Rooms were nice. Pool is good and provided towels. Most staff were polite

We booked in advance for the 3 course buffet which we paid for on arrival plus the extra in case we ordered drinks etc, which wasn't optional. When we went for dinner we were told we were only booked in for bed and breakfast. She went to sort it and came back and again told us again that I wasn't booked in. It eventually got sorted. Also the fish on the buffet was overcooked and almost inedible. I complained after and got a partial refund.

Gym and pool facilities were good. Peaceful surroundings and only a short drive away from main roads. On-site restaurant and bar. Reception staff were friendly.

The room was very tired and in desperate need of an update. Most of the furniture was stained and needs to be replaced. It was very warm in the room with no fan or A/C, which would have been fine if the windows opened more than a couple of centimetres. Bed was not comfortable and pillows far too soft. Kept being woken up by the slamming of other room doors. It wasn't the guests' fault, it was just the design of the doors. Think they need some kind of soft-close mechanism installed.

The grounds are beautiful, this is our second stay here. The breakfast is such a good selection and the staff are lovely.

The rooms feel a tad dated compared to others I have stayed at. I was offered an upgrade prior to arrival but was asked to bid for an upgrade. I think considering I stayed mid week and it probably wasn't busy in the hotel it would of been nice to offer guest free upgrades to rooms on arrival, which if they like the rooms they may book next time. Also we did find a large spider in the bed but roved it ourselves. The other disappointment was no Aircon, the room was hot and the windows only open slightly. Aircon and a bit of renovation would make this a 10 out of 10 for me and I never give 10s out. The surrounding grounds and course are beautiful, it would be nice if there was a map of where is safe to walk for non golfers, as we weren't sure and didn't want to get in the way
