"Never again"

The beds were terribly soft. Either share bed with husband and both roll to the middle or use twin bed arrangement and lie in a hammock. 4 days of perpetual back ache. Never again.

"Shocking hotel"

The receptionist was a trainee and seemed to get no support at all from colleagues. I got charged twice for one stay and still await a refund 1 week later. Room was not cleaned correctly, half empty water bottle at side of bed, toilet bowl not cleaned correcly and long black hairs on the bathroom floor

"Extremely Disappointed "

I stayed at the Delta Hotel, by Marriot, Cheshunt on two successive occasions; 13th to 16th August 2022 and 20th to 25th August 2022 respectively. My experience on the first stay was horrendous and, frankly, I don't know where to begin. I understand, as was advertised, that the hotel had undergone a recent refurbishment, but seeing the furniture and structures in the two different rooms I stayed in, it is very clear that the so called refurbishment was only done on some parts of the outside of the hotel. The furnishings in the room are very dated, the mattress is very old with sunken middle, the TV is plasma, the curtains are old and smelly, the red settee was smelly and infested with either tiny ants and/or fleas. Despite several complaints to the operation manager (Zee), receptionist and housekeeping manager, nothing was done about it. I ended up sitting on the uncomfortable office chair in the room. Zee managed to convince me to stay on the 2nd occasion, how I wished I didn't. I felt conned. The most shocking of all my experience of the hotel, was the fact that my room was not CLEANED for a total of 5 days (2 days on my first stay and 3 days on my second stay), despite repeated complaints to the receptionist, front desk manager, housekeeping manager (the worst) and the operation manager (Zee) respectively. Its shocking that a hotel of this size and class, a Marriot Hotel for that matter, a guest had to ask daily for his room to be cleaned. The worst of it all is, when I asked on numerous occasions (daily) for my room to be cleaned it still remained uncleaned after returning to the room in the evening. I was given the excise that the hotel is short staff of housekeepers. To cap it all, there was no functioning room service on Sundays, apparently they have no staff to man the kitchen. Whilst I was giving free breakfast as compensation, it did little to placate my anger at the poor service. The front doors are a danger to guests, they open widely and too late. I cut my toe from the front door and was only giving plasters/band aid to put on the wound, there was zero first aid on hand to help with my injury. Never again would I stay at this hotel, I've voted with my feet and my wallet.

"Mediocre, it might be a bit hit and miss."

The Hotel appears to be renovated and looked great in reception and bar, however my room was very dated, I felt like i was in the 80's. though it was clean. The mattress was uncomfortable with a mattress topper not really able to mitigate the problem. The bath was also far too small. I ate at the hotel restaurant. I thought I cannot go wrong with Burger and chips, but the Burger was disappointing, it was dry and the size of the cheap small burgers you'd get in the freezer section of a supermarket. It was also served on a wooden board, which i'm not a fan of. Later on, many people were waiting ages for there food with some deciding to order takeaways or go else where, watching this unfold I felt sorry for the staff on duty as something was clearly wrong in the kitchen. The staff were friendly and polite. It wouldn't be my first choice if i had to stay in the area again.

"The management and staff needs training in service standards."

A two double bedroom was sold to us, to accommodate a family of 4 people, consisting of a child and elderly. But only two towels, and two coffee mugs were provided, showing the lack of service standards which a customer expects from a Marriott brand. Moreover, the room provided to us had a non functioning TV. We contacted the manager / reception but they did absolutely nothing. Lip service were provided, but nothing done. A non functioning TV or lack of coffee mugs / towels are tiny things, but when it's a 'Service' industry, that too when provided by 'Marriott', the expected bar is high. When hotel management can't be bothered to take verbal complaints seriously - it speaks volumes of the service standards. This low standard of staff service is letting the customers and the brand down.

"Minor cosmetic upgrade, same experience"

I stayed in one of the updated rooms and was upgraded to a courtyard view, not much of an upgrade but better than facing the car park perhaps. This room (12) was on the ground floor and gave you access via sliding doors to a small table and chairs within the courtyard. As a lone female traveller I do not like ground floor rooms facing on to courtyards like this but the hotel was hardly occupied and I felt reasonably safe after checking the sliding doors to the courtyard were secure. As a regular of this hotel pre-pandemic and pre closure and subsequent change of ownership (franchisee), I was keen to see what had changed. Not much it turns out. Reception service was not a good as before and the young man on reception wasn’t exactly welcoming. You now have to pay for parking, which is utterly ridiculous. Who abusing the parking such that a separate charge is needed? Just make it part of the room rate. The updated room was ok. A cosmetic makeover at best and sloppily done in places, edges of paintwork, grouting, dented towel rail, no hairdryer. But if you know what the old rooms are like the update is welcome and long, long overdue. The bed was as comfortable as before. The aircon unit, although welcome during the mini heat wave, is the same old unit and it rattles and rumbles throughout the night. The rooms themselves are exactly the same layout as before except the horrible old bath tubs have been replaced with decent showers. The low profile shower tray meant the bathroom floor got quite wet but I liked the large, refillable, ItWorks toiletries in the bathroom I just wish that housekeeping would not replace the little wrapped hand soap everyday, that felt wasteful. Housekeeping generally was poor. I had the previous guests wet bath towel hanging behind the door day one, a bottle of glass cleaner left on my room on day two and no bath mat on day three. I also strongly dislike the pungent air freshener that is pumped throughout the hotel. It’s always been like this, it’s just this time I found it really overpowering. I did not eat here on this trip but the restaurant and bar appeared to be offering the same fare as before.

"Clean and comfortable hotel."

We enjoyed our 1 night at Delta Cheshunt. The hotel was very comfortable, cleanliness was excellent and beds very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was exceptional with an amazing amount of different things available. Would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff were efficient and pleasant

"Break away visiting friends"

My Sister and I visited The Delta Marriott on Friday/Saturday 24/25th June. From the moment we set foot in the door we were made to feel so welcome by all the Reception staff. Every single one of them was so helpful, efficient and friendly and this lovely vibe carried through from Em in the bar to dining room and up-house staff. We found the hotel prices very expensive for two glasses of wine but the lovely staff made it worthwhile. Rooms very very clean and beds very comfortable.
