Royal Bar & Hotel

It seems like travelling back 50 years, nice position

This hotel is right in the centre of Kandy town, so it was very convenient for the Tooth Relic Temple, the Lake, and shopping. There are a few rooms at this famous bar, and ours was small but very nice. The staff are attentive, helpful, and very pleasant. It's even part museum, as there are rooms with lovely old photographs. So, it's an atmospheric old place with rooms grouped around a courtyard with lots of gorgeous Raj-era furniture and bric-a-brac. Good bed, nice linens, really excellent breakfast in the restaurant, on a veranda overlooking the street. This is a lovely place I am happy to recommend.

No complaints, though be aware that as it's a bar it can be a little noisy, but it soon winds down around 10 - 11pm.

Struttura antica , residuo del colonialismo inglese. molto ben restaurata. Elegante e ben tenuta. Inoltre c’era il bidet 🙂

The ambience is peaceful and charming. Parking was a great benefit in downtown Kandy! The food is really excellent, and I might drive up from Negombo just for breakfast. It is a great location to enjoy the Perahera.

Long long stairs just because my knees are a problem.

場所がめちゃくちゃいい。朝食の量が多くて種類も豊富。ウェイトレスさん達が上品で礼儀正しい。

設備の欄にドライヤーと書いてあったのに、部屋にドライヤーがなかった。スタッフさんに聞いたら探してくださったが、結局見つからなかった。 洗面所のドアノブが壊れていて抜けてしまう。 部屋の鍵がかけにくい。

Lovely old colonial building with bar and restaurant on the terrace. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was great, perfect for walking around the lake and getting to and from the train station. Staff were very polite and helped at every opportunity

We were delighted to stay 4 nights during the Perahera at this charming old world colonial hotel Our room (9) was really spacious & beautiful with furniture & fittings to compliment the buildings age We really appreciated that Rasintha (think I’ve got that right) helped us to obtain tickets to watch the Perahera & everyone should come at least once in their life to see this. Amazing!! We ate at the hotel every night as we loved everything we tried. It was delicious, cheap, plentiful & good service. The staff are lovely. Breakfast is huge & delicious On our last morning it was a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast & fabulous

I found the lovely but impractical mats on the floor very slippery. We had hot water only one morning out of 4. It doesn’t matter quite as much in a hot climate thankfully Would have loved a kettle & coffee in the room None of the above would put me off staying again

Purtroppo abbiamo dormito qui solo 1 notte, ma comunque siamo stati molto bene. Ci hanno fatto parcheggiare nella corte interna perchè le strade erano chiuse per via della Perahera. Ci hanno accolto con un bel cocco! La posizione è super, 5 minuti a piedi dal Tempio del Dente e dalla Perahera. Bell'hotel in stile coloniale, con arredi in legno scuro su pareti bianche. Purtroppo la ns. camera (n. 13) dava sul davanti e si sentiva molto il traffico, ma per fortuna avevi tappi e mascherina (già, perchè non ci sono tende e le persiane non sono sufficienti ed entra luce molto presto). Colazione strepitosa, uova e bacon, cornetti caldi, pane e marmellata, succhi freschi, tutto buonissimo, così come la cena.
