Mountain Retreat Hotel

Check in was very quick and easy. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Pool temperature is nice and warm. We went to our room and it had not been cleaned from the previous guests. Called down to the front desk and they came up with new keys to a different room a couple doors down. There was a visible leak under the sink in our room. Some hair in the tub and on the walls. Soap scum down the front of the sink. Decent place.

like: the room was spacious, comfortable large bed (king), while the location is on the outskirts of the city there is a nice walking trail beside the lodging which goes into the city (lighting, paved), food in attached restaurant was delicious dislike: the toilet was quite low I would have preferred a walk-in shower rather than a tub/shower combination (rather small considering the bathroom was spacious) There was a chemicl odor in the hallway and the room- tolerable.

Staff is nice and helpful but things do not work. The hair dryer in our room did not work, some of the lights were not working. The bathtub was not draining properly. We informed the front desk and were told the maintenance would come and fix the next day. The maintenance did fix the bathtub problem. This place does need a renovation and things could definitely be improved to give the place a better feel. It’s definitely not a 3 star as it is rated. It should be a 2-2.5

Check in was very slow. One person checking in everyone with another just watching. Not sure what was going on, maybe he was training. The hallway on the fourth floor was extremely hot during the day and it was not all that hot outside. In the middle of summer it would be unbearable. They have a pool and there is water down the hall into the elevator. Tile floors and water not a good mix. Maybe a large sign to tell everyone to dry off before leaving the pool area. I have stayed here before and the hotel itself is a nice place to stay. It's clean and comfortable. There's a good restaurant on site and a liquor store as well.

Very clean, TV was very small with limited channels and some of the best coffee ever in a hotel.

There was no housekeeping in our room, even if it says that there is in the expedia hotel description. Check in is too slow and complicated. Hot tub wasn’t working most of the time. Now the rooms are good and apparently clean. No real complains there. I was just surprised that the room wasn’t made. (That means no coffee refills etc unless you go and ask for it). I will probably stay again in the future (most options around are really really worse)

I rarely write reviews but I wanted to warn others of this hotel and my terrible experience. I booked this hotel through my RBC Avion card- Expedia travel. When my family arrived at the hotel, they did not have my reservation in their system even though I had the booking confirmation. I showed the front desk person all my info and he basically told me he can’t do anything for me. I phoned my credit card, spoke to multiple people, who all verified the reservation. Also phoned Expedia who confirmed the same thing. The front desk person did not know what he was doing. He called his manager in the phone and she rudely advised that I would have to pay again?! Hours was spent trying to sort this out with no end result. I missed a pre paid excursion (which I lost my money) and we ended up having to book a hotel elsewhere for double the price as it was last minute. I have never been treated so poorly. The management and hotel staff were so disrespectful! I would hate for anyone to have to go through this ordeal. Travel is stressful enough let alone dealing with uncooperative and rude staff. I would also like to mention that I did not get my money back for this hotel. I will keep fighting for it, but I’m exhausted and have spent so many hours already. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK YOUR STAY WITH MOUNTAIN RETREAT IN SQUAMISH!

Good setup for larger family and a dog and mtn bikes. Sofa-beds best for smaller children but the family suite a great size for more space. Central location. Pool and water slide as added extra.
