Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel and Towers

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. We had 2 rooms on the 19th floor, a double room and a king room. The king room was noticeably more spacious, but both rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable with good amenities including a mini refrigerator. All the staff we encountered were friendly and spoke decent English. Through the basement level, you can conveniently walk into Yokohama station which has numerous trains leading to/from the Tokyo area. Via the Tokaido line, it was a 25-minute ride to Tokyo Station. Finding the right platform was complicated and we relied heavily on Google Maps to tell us which train to take and which platform to go to. The station also has a myriad of shops and restaurants, including a decently sized “Tokyu” supermarket in addition to the convenience stores scattered about. Finding your way around can be challenging as it resembles a maze of interconnected malls and buildings with waves of crowds. Being so close to Yokohama station, we mostly used trains to get around. However, we did take a taxi from Haneda Airport that cost 12,000 yen and a taxi to Shin-Yokohama station to catch the Shinkansen that cost 4,000 yen. There usually were taxis waiting outside the hotel’s entrance. The hotel was also running a “Green Program” where you get a 500 yen credit for every day you skip housekeeping. Credits can be used at the hotel’s restaurants or its pastry shop located in the basement level.

Agree with names mentioned giving sub par attitude and discrete discrimination. Our overall experience was poor compared to Westin, little way away, but part of Marriott. There they know to treat people with EQUAL respect and not show race bias. This is is serious problem at Sheraton. Service is poor, rooms are old and some management need to be kept away from guests or seriously improve their manners. Definitely would not stay again.....unless they change their alarmingly biased views on foreign guests.

Didn't enjoy this stay. Somebody we were meant to meet wasn't allowed in the hotel and he had stayed here for many years. We were told they couldn't give a reason, but when pressed, they mentioned the same name.....Tanaka. See below ..... his name is mentioned a lot. We were looking forward to seeing him but Tanaka destroyEd our pleasure. He banned him for some personal reason. Shame as our guy had spoken highly of the hotel. We all thought this ISN'T HOW YOU TREAT CUSTOMERS. By the way, bumped into B(Tanaka)S and he said we shouldn't revisit. Sheraton, Yokohama, you should be ashamed of discrimination. SHAMEFUL,

Have to agree with some posts below. Location good. Value terrible......grimy rooms and bathroom fittings in need of total overhaul. Staff, except Tanaka and his deputy, ok. These 2 are actually condescending and think they can speak English to a satisfactory managerial level.......absolute joke. A smile cannot conceal contempt. I wouldn't stay here again while they are in charge. Absolutely fake concerns for guests. Don't stay until they lower prices and change their (middle) management. I, as others have commented, heard from regular staff that these 2 are not liked.

Overpriced, rude staff, especially suited manger, no value here. After 5 years loyalty, I'm going back to basics......Hilton.....Yokohama Bay Sheraton is in fear of 2 or 3 managers who are jacking up prices. Nearby hotels charge one third the price and you get friendly staff who wear a genuine smile, not the fake one displayed by the suit guy. GET A BETTER DEAL ELSEWHERE and avoid the 'great location' trap. There are plenty of other hotels just as close to Yokohama station that will save you money. Only go here if you don'tlike good service and are willing to throw money away. Awful service which is now filtering down to their lower paid staff. Change the decision makers.....their choices aren't working. By the way, I know 2 or 3 staff here, and they say in the past 3 months they have been told to extract as much money as possible from guest....not great staff feedback.

It was completely over-priced. The room was OK but the service at reception was poor. The food was OK but not for the price that they charge. There are lots of much cheaper options in just as good a location with just as good service and amenities. For example, the Richmond, the Fresa Inn, that I have tried since here.
