Dunraven Arms Hotel

We are just back from the most amazing stay at this lovely hotel where we celebrated our wedding anniversary. From the second we arrived, the place had such a warm, welcoming vibe – full of charm and character, but with all the comforts you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. The staff were fantastic – friendly, helpful, and genuinely eager to make sure everything was perfect. You really get the feeling that nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room was super spacious and beautifully done up – plenty of room to relax and unwind, with really comfy beds and thoughtful touches throughout. It felt like a proper retreat after a day of exploring the town and surrounding area. As for the food! Absolutely delicious! Every meal we had was top-notch and we even managed to have our dinner one night in the beautifully manicured gardens. Al fresco in Ireland rarely happens so it was a real treat! The breakfast is hands down the best we’ve had in Ireland. Freshly baked breads, local produce, delicious coffee and the real show stopper, carved ham off the bone – we looked forward to it every morning! If you're into fitness, the gym is brilliant too – really well equipped and spotless, which is always a bonus when you're away from home. Dunraven Arms has it all – charm, comfort, amazing food, and unbeatable service. Can’t recommend it enough if you’re heading to Adare. We’re already planning our return!

Hotel is nice traditional but recently refurbished. Few basic things missing like coffee & tea facilities in the room and curtains or blackout blinds. They had poor quality roller blinds that let light in!

After nearly 30 years and over 30 visits we are taking our business elsewhere 😞The personable charm is just not there any more! We have noticed this over the last few visits and despite pointing this out we continued to be let down. We always loved the food, atmosphere and fine touches but these have disappeared over the last few years. We have stayed in many different rooms and tried lots of wine which never disappointed... Our next trips are booked over the next few months but The Dunraven it will not be! An end to an era!

WHAT a terrible flight to get here. When we arrived we were just about beyond exhausted. We check in and find our room was not ready yet. We were early but the young lady at reception saw we needed somewhere to recuperate. She provided us with a small lounge and sent us coffee and tea. This is where I found out that Ireland has great coffee as well as tea. That was the remedy we relaxed and recharged until our room was ready. We seem to have brought some of the best weather that they have seen in weeks. It was quite warm. We discovered there was never a need for air conditioning usually. Well, we needed it the room was indeed warm. They did bring up a fan and made things better. Roomy and clean well kept. The Bar/Pub downstairs was lovely, well stocked and staffed with friendly folks. The food in the restaurant was so much better than expected. Well prepared and well served. I will have a separate post regarding the food. If we again have the chance to visit Ireland we will stay here.

Stayed here with my family (five rooms total) in April 2025. We were lured in by the charming exterior and “four-star” label. Turns out, the stars must be for the location - certainly not the rooms, amenities, or basic safety. Let’s start with the bed - literally. Ours came with exposed staples and pins. A bold design choice. Nothing says “rest and relaxation” like sharp metal near your face. The rooms were unbearably hot during a heatwave. But don’t worry - there’s no air conditioning, and they don’t mention that anywhere in their booking materials. You’ll discover that little surprise once you’ve checked in and are handed a tiny plastic fan. We thought we’d open a window for air, but there were no screens. So it’s a fun game of “cool breeze or swarm of bugs?” The staff couldn’t explain much beyond “the heat isn’t on” and a dramatic button-pressing performance on a thermostat that clearly isn’t connected to anything. We tried to resolve the issues with management privately. We provided photos. Their response? Offer of a minimal refund (that we refused) and the assurance that our images weren’t “representative.” Good to know that our bad experience was just a fluke - and that all five rooms we paid for must’ve magically drawn the short straw. To be fair, the bar and waitstaff were lovely. But unless you plan to sleep in the restaurant, I’d recommend staying elsewhere. This place seems to cater to rotating tour buses, not actual guests expecting comfort or honesty. Come for the charm. Stay for the sweat and staples.

We were a golf society with eighteen members staying in Dunraven Arms. From the moment we arrived the service was outstanding from the very pleasant lady in reception to Denis and staff in the restaurant . Dinner and breakfast were enjoyed by all. All in all a great experience thank you 😊

I recently booked this hotel for a private dinner and stay for a work retirement celebration, and they were an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout the entire process. Louis and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in all our correspondence, ensuring everything was perfectly arranged in advance. On the night of the event, everyone remarked on what a wonderful time they had. It was clear that the hotel staff made a significant effort to make the evening special. Their attention to detail and dedication to creating a memorable experience was truly impressive. I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again for future events.

Myself and my partner, visited adare for a short 2 night break away. The village itself it’s beautiful, rows of thatched cottages and boutiques for shopping. We staying in The Dunraven Arms Hotel on a 2 night package and the service was impeccable from the checkin We had the beef for dinner both nights it was cooked to perfection, friendly staff and fast service. The bed was so comfortable I had to ask reception what they use, they said it’s all duck down bedding, fabulous! Would highly recommend this hotel and looking forward to our next stay we have already booked for July

We stayed here in April. The room itself was clean & nice but for such a big hotel that wasn’t at full capacity & they put us in a room facing the street with loud traffic noise all night & a flood light from the car park pouring into the room which lit it up like sunshine, even with the blinds closed. We were charged €9 for 2 mini bottles of soda where the local shop cost €1.80 for a big size bottle. We were offered no compensation & they also take a €50 room deposit. Hasn’t come back yet. We were also charged a higher rate than we reserved on booking.com. It was so disappointing & as a travel agent I will not recommend my clients to stay there. There was a celebrity wall of famous guests. I’m sure they were well looked after. The rooms are also so far so doesn’t cater well for elderly or disabled. We were awake early because no sleep & couldn’t wait to leave. Biggest disappointment of Ireland.

We arrived a day before our tour started, and were given an upgraded room. We were told that we’d have to switch rooms the next day, obviously because tour had inferior rooms included in the cost, but the front desk made it sound like we might be able to stay. Anyway, we were told rudely the next morning by a different person that we had to move. They got my husband and me moved to the inferior room, and within moments my mother in law shows up saying she got to stay in her room. There was an up charge, but I was not offered to stay in the better room. The room they gave us had a broken window which could not open and the room was very hot. Informed them. They said they would send someone up, but 30 seconds later they called and said maintenance looked at it but it wouldn’t be fixed until the next day. No one came to the room, and the front desk said well maybe they came when you weren’t in the room. Seriously??? I was there the whole 30 seconds it took them to call me back. So it was then that they admitted that they knew of the issue the prior day. So they just lied about it, and put us in a crappy uncomfortable room. They switched us again, but this room is also terrible - with ridiculously squeaky floors, uncomfortable bed, and smaller and uncomfortable loveseat than the first room. Overall I very dissatisfied with the room and the service regarding the room switch - and why I did not receive the same courtesy as my mother in law. No I will have to spend the entire trip unable in a room without a single comfortable surface, and made to feel less-than another guest who was accommodated. I was so excited for this trip, but sadly that incident had set the trajectory toward a very unpleasant experience.
