The Ambleside Inn - The Inn Collection Group

On the 9th June I messaged you via booking.com as follows: "A double bed is required - even a standard one is fine - please confirm this will be guaranteed?" ..... you replied that my request had been approved (screen shot proof of these messages taken and available) - hence I went ahead with the booking! However, although my message was 100% unequivocal saying 'required' and that 'this will be guaranteed?' Unfortunately your reply turned out to be simply UNTRUE! .... a double bed was not supplied instead you pushed two single beds together! - this made for a very uncomfortable ridge between the two mattresses and thus by definition this was NOT a 'double bed'. (Photo proof available). Given we are an olkder couple having just got together and this was our first stay in a hotel together - your lie about my request of a double bed to be GUARANTEED being 'approved' basically ruined the romantic part of our stay. In addition: (2) the toilet roll holder was so loose it tipped the roll onto the wet bathroom floor - very unpleasant to try to use after that! and (3) we couldn't sleep well as the curtains did not keep the morning light out - even when we requested that they be hooked up properly (as was done) - they were still unsatisfactory! Nb. I ordered sleep masks from Amazon to try to rectify our lack of sleep - but somehow your hotel could not take delivery or the driver got it wrong by saying delivery failed? - so even that didn't work! (4) The lighting in the room by the door was all but non existent - we could not see into the dark cubby holes which passed for shelves - so hard to find the right clothes before taking over to the main light AND took us ages to find the hairdryer which was in a black bag at the back of one such pitch black cubby hole shelves! Very hot room even with a fan

BEWARE THE INN COLLECTION METHOD. You look at the hotel details (images great write up good) all looks fantastic. You’ve even stayed with them before, and it was alright. They offer free breakfast and reduced rate if you agree to a No Refund Policy !! Then you arrive and the Hotel is a building site, wall to wall and floor to roof scaffolding, building debris all around the outside and dust on all the windows. Your view out of the window in your bedroom is more dirty windows and scaffolding. There is a loud electrical buzzing in your room and even the member of staff who comes up to check says she wouldn’t stay in the room. We were later told that it was the extractor fan in the bathroom that comes on every time it’s used. So you decide that it’s not what was advertised or what you wanted for your Father’s Day weekend and inform the manager that you are not going to stay due to all of the above. The response is WE HAVE A NO REFUND POLICY AND THE SAME RESPONSE FROM GUEST SERVICES DO NOT EVER PAY UP FRONT

The breakfast was excellent . Plenty of choice . Very fast service from friendly staff.

Good location. Staff very helpful

Scaffolding over the entire building for exterior work project. Our window and sill were filthy. Also the lighting in the room inadequate- very dull. Felt like we were in a cave. Poor air circulation in our room. My husband disliked breakfast.

Everything this is really good value for money. The service was was excellent and staff was very friendly and helpful.

Absolutely nothing

Everything you couldn't ask for more was a fantastic visit can't wait to go again.

As only a one night stay everything was great for us no issues all staff were fantastic with us can't of asked for more.
