"Amazing"

We had a training course today where we found the staff (Isobel) was super helpful when we needed her help to adjust the lunch time or ask for any tools for the presentation (speakers or clickers). I enjoyed the day so much and wish to do more training there.

"Nice, enjoyable stay"

10.0

During my recent stay, I was truly impressed by the outstanding customer service provided by Abhi. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to ensure our experience was one to remember. Abhi was attentive, friendly, and seemed genuinely invested in making our stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel itself was lovely—clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained.

"Good"

Was ok but for price paid I would dispute the following: 1) there was a big event on which the staff were obviously overwhelmed staff, didn’t appear to be much in term of planning for stock as the bar ran dry - this resulted in a big wait for food which wasn’t great for the price paid 2) the room was dated and smelt of smoke on arrival, the fuse board was buzzing all night. 3) that said the swimming pool was great and breakfast was superb Staff need to be managed better, hotel needs a bit of a refurb but other than that wasn’t horrific

There as a trainer for a 2 day conference/training programme in October. Isobell looked after us during our stay and the service from Isobell was outstanding. Looked after us superbly throughout, nothing was too much trouble and all done with a smile. Thank you.

"A lot to like and some apricated features"

8.0

I stayed for just over 3 weeks at Crowne Plaza Reading, while on business @ RAF Benson. Parking is just in front of the hotel (limited), and at a large lot beside. Both are managed by an outside company and itemized separately on the hotel bill. You need to remember how many days you pay for (if not your total stay) then renew when applicable, otherwise you will be fined. The only way to avoid managing your parking is either to pay parking for your entire stay in advance, or pre-negotiate a package that includes parking. In all cases you still need to register your car license plate. The lobby is enormous and beautiful with large windows that open to the Thames river, which has a great walking path. My room was on the 2nd floor. Upon check-in, I was given a room that adjoined another (usually more noisy). I went right back to the lobby to ask to change and was immediately given a non-adjoining room, however looking at the room map on the door, my room was the narrowest room of 56 rooms on the 2nd floor. I'm curious to know why, if I'm single occupancy business type for 3 weeks stay, I would be given an adjoining room and then the room switch to the smallest room in the hotel. The room itself (not withstanding the size), I loved. + Hot water and bathroom with heated towel rods and nice amenities from dispensers + Bed comfort, pillows and linens + Great work desk with real leather adjustable swivel chair + USB Ports + TV with free source input and a remote that had a source button (for a streaming stick) + Wifi reliable and fast ++ Concrete walls - I rarely heard other sounds ++ Double paned glass on the large windows + Safe, Iron, Real Telephone with quick buttons to lobby, room service, etc.. The Gym is more like a club size gym than a hotel gym and does cater to outside clients There is a nice adjoining indoor pool Breakfast was very good and staff were engaging. To Improve (in my opinion, all 3 are easy improvements) > When a person is staying long term on business, put extra attention to room assignment > On cold mornings, the breakfast area (with the high ceilings) could get cold. Staff placed portable heaters near our tables, but we still needed to wear our jackets. I rarely felt this area to be cold in the evenings, so perhaps they turn the heating down over night and this is why it gets so cold in the mornings.....not very pleasant. > The stairway exit beside the elevator to the lobby has a soft close feature that either needs adjustment or is broken, as that door constantly is slamming. I can imagine this must be very annoying for front desk staff as it is jolting or me. TIP: Reading train station is a brisk 15 min walk or 20 min leisurely walk away. TIP: Going to London for the day. There are trains every 10 minutes to London. Track 10 & 11 are the higher speed less stop trains. The easiest payment method is TAP with phone or credit card on the yellow pad on the turnstile, then tap again when you exist at your destination (example Paddington).....You must remember to tap out or you could get a fine. You can then continue to tap going into the underground (at entry and exit). At the very end of our day (like midnight) You'll see one single charge on your credit card which totals all your journey costs for the day. A typical Reading to Paddington then underground travel for the day was 31 pounds total. TIP: Getting to London Heathrow Airport, you can take the train or the bus. Taking the bus avoids transfers at Paddington and gets you right up to the terminal drop-off. Busses depart hourly. A colleague of mine took the bus and loved it, but it left 30 minutes late, so plan accordingly to factor in any delays. TIP: The fun core part of Reading starts at the train station (great walking streets and lots of various stores) TIP: There is a closed prison with very high walls that as a large Banksy artwork on it. This is beside the old Abby ruins and worth it to see. TIP: As far as eating close to the hotel, the 2 best closest restaurants are a 5 minute walk across the bridge. (Thai Table and The Griffin). Our team loved both restaurants and we returned to them several times.
