Extended Stay America Select Suites - Des Moines - West Des Moines

The light outside the window at night was way too bright. Finding out that there was undocumented people living here made us feel unsafe. No one at the front desk in the morning to check us out & no answer when I called on the house phone. Breakfast was offered on the website but not available when we got there.

The minute we walked into our room there were a swarm of bugs crawling out of the baseboard and in the bathroom. There were 2 towels for 5 people. A kitchenette with no supplies. There was a foot print on the sheets of our bed.

My wife and i were going out to eat dunner and thats when we noticed thr fire dept in front. Hall was full of smoke but no fire alarm went off to warn us. Smoke inhalation is very dangeriuse also.

Noisy. NO coffee. Vending machine food and soft drinks only. Very helpful front desk person! Room and linens very clean.

Great for the price. Have stayed at this hotel three times now and it’s been great!

Check in and out went perfect. Room was way out dated but everything worked so no complaints. Only real “issues” we had was the complimentary breakfast was just oatmeal or a muffin and the “free use of nearby gym facility” was literally just their on site gym which was just a bike and treadmill. Overall it was fine and would stay again.

The room was good.

The manager was hateful and didn't try to help when we had an issue. She said we couldn't take the dogs on the elevator, and we were put on the 3rd floor. When I told her I had a bad knee and couldn't do the steps, she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Deal with it, it's our policy." She didn't try to accommodate by moving us to a different room on the 1st floor or anything, so we left 4 days earlier than planned. We'll never stay there again.
