Swissotel Quito

We stayed here twice during our South American trip and both times we found the place absolutely first class. From the time our driver pulled up our luggage was taken in, and we were escorted to check-in. We were presented with hot towels and a welcome drink while the clerk was checking us in. Everything was professional and efficient. The bellman escorted up to our room and brought in the luggage. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. They have all the necessities and a few luxuries like bathrobes. The bed was very comfortable, the air-conditioning worked well and the rooms had views of the volcanos across Quito. The breakfast restaurant (Cafe Quito) offered a magnificent spread of international and local cuisine beautifully presented. There was an egg chef who would make omelets and Eggs Benedict (my favorite) on request. The hotel offered a private taxi service which was modest in cost. It was more expensive than the ubiquitous yellow taxis in Quito but much more comfortable and the driver (Joseph) was very professional. Security in the hotel was excellent. There were guards at all the doors. The neighborhood seemed quite safe, and we ventured out to local restaurants without any concern. There are a supermarket and a fast (cheap) laundry service within walking distance. We also frequented their Deli restaurant. It was very inexpensive and had good fresh pizza, sandwiches, empanadas and cakes. It is to be recommended. The Swissotel also had several fine dining restaurants we didn't visit. Whenever we returned to the lobby, the staff greeted us and ushered us into the elevator. The hotel is located in a business district away from the tourist sites but everywhere can be reached in 20-30 minutes by taxi. The hotel has a full spa, pool and fitness center that we did not use. I most heartedly recommend staying at the Swissotel Quito.

Las áreas húmedas (piscina) lo comparten con un gimnasio y realmente había mucha gente en condiciones de entrenarse y no en el plan de vacaciones que uno busca en un hotel.
