Best Western Plus Como Park Hotel

This hotel has gone down hill from the first time we stayed in Feb 2020. Our first experience was great, although our room was way in the back of the hotel but not a deal breaker. This weekend, we booked a pool side room. Room was great, not loud by the pool, near the front desk and breakfast area, nice room with a little shared seating area right outside the sliding glass door to the pool area. Most hotels allow you to choose a fairly low temp in the room and adjust the fan speed. BW only allowed you to change the temp down to 68 degrees and could not adjust the fan speed. Not a horrible issue, but with it being over 90 degrees outside....cooler would have been better! The 2nd night, it was cooler in the pool area than in our room. Biggest issue was parking, it was AWFUL!! Very small parking lot (appx 20ish cars) on the one side and another little pull off area for another 8-10 cars. Used to be a nice, small parking ramp 20 feet away across the street. We were told it was condemned by the city and extra parking was near by....but it was almost 2 blocks away in a fairly sketchy looking parking area. Coming back our 2nd night, huge thunderstorm was going through with bad lightning and pouring rain. Ended up parking on the street in front of the hotel, with other guests, as it just seemed a free for all with people parking where ever they could.

This hotel is unique in that it is in what was formerly a train repair building. The parts of the original building that are still there and the train motif are very well done and provide an enjoyable atmosphere. The desk person who checked us in was great. Our room was clean, roomy, comfortable and quiet. One tip: unless you have children who are going to use the pool ask for an exterior room. The interior rooms look over the pool which, of course, can get noisy. One minor complaint: the parking directly adjacent to the hotel is limited and the auxiliary parking lot is a bit of a walk. All in all though a very enjoyable stay.

I like that it is family and pet friendly.

We stayed for about a week in two different rooms. The staff was very accommodating. The breakfast was very good with many choices. I loved the lobby and the history of the building. The neighborhood and rooms were very quiet. My only complaint was the wifi in one of my rooms was poor and the shower pressure was too soft for my liking. That being said, I would definitely come back and re-book.

cold water flooded sink counter in our room... had to wrap a towel around the faucet!! AC didn't work in second room.... no maintenance to fix it on the weekend!!!!! We were part of a wedding block that brought business to the hotel. Others complained that they wished they could make their rooms COOLER TOO. On site manager LISA, didn't answer repeated phone calls and was always busy when we went to the front desk. Would we recommend this hotel to anyone?? NO!! WE FEEL WE ARE ENTITLED TO A REFUND FOR THE 1 DAY WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING WOULDN'T YOU?????

Beautiful historic hotel rebuilt in historic factory. Clean brand new facilities, large rooms, great beds and pillows. Delicious breakfast and fun bar. Super efficient and friendly yet professional staff. Excellent Best Western to stay at!

We stayed 2 nights. Our room was not cleaned. When we came back from our day the second evening our room was exactly as we left it. Our bed wasn't made, and there were no clean towels. Very disapointing.

The beds were amazing, the old building was fantastic - all the brick, the exposed beams, the wood, the nearby buildings as well. Felt very safe in the hotel and immediately surrounding area. Fascinating history - and really liked the original doors to let let the train engines in for repair.

The only issues I had during my stay were at check-in. I initially arrived from the airport at 12:30 and asked for early check in and was told no, which was fine as it was a long shot. The front desk person said they were "about to check everyone out" but checkout is at 11am. I went out to have some lunch and came back at 3pm, the listed check in time on the reservation, and was told that it would be 5pm before a room was ready. I offered to take any room type but was told that none were available. While waiting on housekeeping to double check room readiness, someone called to cancel and I was given their room. If they hadn't canceled, no wonder how long I would have been waiting, exhausted from a day of travel. I understand no early check-in, but not being ready at the time of the reservation is uncalled for and frustrating. The area around the front desk was also dirty, with a false nail and crushed chips around. The room itself was clean and comfortable, the hotel was quiet and the amenities were as expected. On checkout, I needed a receipt for work travel reimbursement. I went to the desk at 8am to check out and was told "when I checked out at 11am, the receipt would be emailed." I was standing right there with my keys to check out - if no one is checked out until 11am and rooms don't start getting turned over until then, it might explain the delay in room readiness on my arrival.
