House of Gods Hotel

Wonderful experience at a truly unique and quirky hotel. The sumptuous decoration and every little extra touch made our stay magical. The staff were all wonderful and could not have done more to make our visit really special, Willow checked us in and was a treasure. Wish we could've spent more than one night but that just means we will definitely be back.

Definitely be back, such a unique and romantic style with chilled vibes. Cocktails have to be tried, were unreal. Staff incredible professional and friendly, especially the receptionist “Miles” even lending us an umbrella for the day.

Just returned from an overnight stay at house of gods hotel Edinburgh , we were there for my daughters graduation , everything was fantastic! Staff really welcoming and friendly and the rooms are amazing! Very comfortable with everything you need for a very luxurious stay , special thanks to Myles who gave us all glasses of Prosecco to celebrate our daughters graduation , he made her feel very special and went out of his way to look after us in the beautiful cocktail lounge which served the most amazing cocktails , would thoroughly recommend this hotel and can’t wait to return!

Not worth the value of what we spent. Rooms are tiny and not clean. Was an odour throughout the whole hotel and a smell of pee as you walked in our room door. If you’re over 6 foot in height you won’t fit in the bed. The shower pressure was good though ! Beds are very uncomfortable almost resembling a rock. Staff were nice enough and the milk and cookies were a plus but that’s all I can say good about the hotel.

We stayed in a Four Poster Classic Room and had a great time! Yes, the rooms are small but they’re a lot of fun and for a stay of a couple of nights, they’re perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable and service from the staff was brilliant across the board. Special mention to Murray who gave us a lovely welcome to the hotel.

Wickedly Decadent and Boujee Style!! We were gifted a stay at this gorgeous hotel in Edinburgh as a 30th Wedding Anniversary present from our three daughters. On entering the hotel, we were given a glass of Prossecco each before being greeted by Rishabh, who was very lovely and thorough, checking us in and taking our order for Breakfast in Bed Hamper, and then taking us and our bags up to our room! Yes, the corridors are dark, but Rishabh advised that the hotel is based upon The Orient Express and that explained the beautifully dark wooden room doors and swathes of deep red velvet curtains, glass chandeliers and gold lampshades!! On entering our room, we saw a beautifully made double cabin bed, adorned with two towel swans, large gold balloons all over the bed and a heart made of gold petals and a lovely anniversary card and a box of delicious chocolates! Rishabh advised us of our room package which included a bottle of Prosecco on ice in the room, a £20 voucher to use in the bar or for room service and that we would also receive milk and cookies at bedtime! We had a coffee pod machine which he explained how to use hidden behind a mirror and the mirror at the bottom of our bed also turned into a TV! He then showed us the magic button to press for which had one side for 'milk and cookies', another side for'Prosecco' and finally one for 'Send Butler'! He also then asked if we had any plans and gave us directions to the Royal Mile and said if we needed any further assistance, he was just a button away!! On returning to the hotel after our night out we enjoyed two amazing cocktails!! On our return to our room, we pressed the button for milk and cookies which were promptly brought to our room and included two little pots of popcorn and fruit pastilles as well as two large cookies and two bottles of milk! In the morning our Breakfast Hamper was delivered at the time we requested and included lots, from granola, yogurt with fruit compote (2 off), shortbread rounds, croissants with a selection of jam/philadelphia cheese/Nutella spread and butter, coffee or tea and fruit juice! All in all we had an amazing night here and we will definitely be returning. We were made to feel like superstars and we loved the ambience of the whole hotel and bar!! Special Thanks to Rishabh who ensured that we had the best anniversary possible!

The room was very clean and looked fantastic. The details were very nice touch. We also loved the buttons to press for presseco and treats! Our staff were very polite and friendly. our little housekeeper with long hair sweet girl was very helpful to guide and recommend us to nearby shops and restaurants. She also left a little note on how to use the coffee machine. So very well accommodated and brilliant staff and lovely hammers for breakfast delightful touches. Downside the halls are very dark and we had trouble finding ways out.

Stayed in a "cabin" room. Please be aware that there are NO WINDOWS in these rooms. The "window" in the pictures of the rooms on their website are just a ight behind glass blocks. If you are claustrophobic at all, do not book! They say the rooms are cozy, which implies small. They are smaller than small. You can only enter the bed on one side. If you open up a suitcase, you wouldn't be able to exit the room. The bathroom is approximately 3' by 10' and you have to close the door to use the shower which is only closed off from the toilet and sink by a shower curtain. When you use the shower, the entire bathroom floor will be wet. The hotel offers some special amenities and has a fun/funky decor. There is a small bar in the lobby. As you walk to your room, there is a strong sense of entering a very dark funhouse. The first time we left our room to head out into the city, we had to follow the exit signs. As we wound around the various hallways with seemingly one egress, we had horrible images of what a firetrap it could be. We even found ourselves humming "Hotel California". (You know the line: "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave".) The special button in our room to order evening milk and cookies didn't work. Also, the special button to request service ("butler") didn't work. Worst of all, however, was that the Air Conditioning (room 204) did not work. Went down to front desk to get someone to look at it. Manager came up but couldn't figure out how to do more than turn the fan off/on. Our teeny tiny room was a sauna. Resorted to propping open our hallway door with a suitcase. No apologies. No compensation. No way I'm recommending this hotel.

This was the best hotel my husband and I have ever stayed at in our lives. Every detail was spectacular. The service was incredible and they actually cared about our experience here. They upgraded us to the suite for free and gave us champagne upon arrival. The milk & cookies is the best too! They catered to a food intolerance I have and everything felt very custom. Miles (who works at the hotel) gave us the best recommendations for things to do around the city and always made us feel comfortable and welcome. He truly felt like a trusted friend! Would absolutely recommend this hotel over any others and we hope to come back to Edinburgh again and stay here. We honestly didn’t want to leave!!
