Red House By The River

I stayed here for one night and had a really good experience. The apartment is right by the river — calm, quiet, and with a beautiful view of the bridge. It was super clean, cozy, and just what I needed to relax after a long day. The host was very friendly and shared some great tips about the area. I felt welcome and comfortable. I'd happily stay here again. Bis bald und vielen Dank!

I loved the location it was near all the important places. The place was clean. We checked in late and we appreciated that she has waited for us.

-We were charged an extra 40 euros even though we had already paid for the night. -The host was rude and unhelpful when we asked for extra laundry soap — she only provided one small cup for 3 people over 4 nights and refused to give more. -The floor is unstable, and the furniture keeps moving. She also placed too many fragile items around the apartment, so we had to move some of them aside to avoid them falling or breaking it honestly feels like this could be a way to charge guests extra if something gets damaged and the flooring was so thin that you could hear and feel people walking. -One vase broke accidentally, and the host charged a large amount, claiming it was antique yet if it truly was antique, it wouldn’t be placed in a rental property used by guests. We also asked for an invoice, but she never provided one.

Airconditioning made an annoying noise. Thankfully the noise stopped after 3 days.

It was very nice great location. Would highly recommend. Rosa and her staff were exceptional. They went beyond the call of duty by helping me clean up my luggage after a broke in my suitcase.

Our first impression as we arrived, was... WHAT, NO ELEVATOR? did I miss that in the description? There are 34 STEEP STAIRS to get to our studio room. Someone carried our luggage upstairs for us, which was helpful but even having a backpack with those stairs,... I wouldn't recommend. The bed was very firm/ hard. It was like sleeping on a slab of granite with a sheet on it. The pillows were also hard and very high, so I had to sleep without a pillow for 3 nights. There was no comfortable chair to sit, only 2 small 14" cubes, which we used to lay one piece of luggage on, as there wasn't a luggage rack at all. I had to lay my suitcase on the kitchen sink. The other seating was a small, METAL bistro table with a 1/2" pad. Very uncomfortable to sit on, especiallyfor 4 days/ 3 nights.. or I sat on the bed. The full size bed took most of the room, and we had to pull it 6" from against the wall to have walk around access to get in and out of bed daily. The shower was very small, I bumped my elbows on the walls while washing my hair. The walls are thin, as I heard the next door apartment's TV and conversation until 11:45 each night. The stairs assent/ descent changed our plans, as we only wanted to go up and down once a day. We didn't feel like we could go back mid day to rest or regroup, as we didn't want to deal with the 34 steep stairs often. The check in window was 20 minutes long prearranged, there was not onsite staff. The owner of apartment was responsive with WhatsApp texts . She was nice. This location would be good for a single, young, fit person that wants a good view of Porto historical area. And with backpack luggage only. I was disappointed. .

You really cannot beat the location no matter what. Washer, dishwasher everything you need pretty much for cooking if you want. Beds are very comfortable. Nice little water fountain to listen to. Really comfy sofa. The views were just amazing. You just didn’t want to leave sometimes in the evening you just want to look out. I like the fat cat that we were not letting in the house, but he was entertaining outside the house. There were cafés right out the door if you wanted. Such an amazing place to get to stay at in an old building. There was a little table with chairs that we could sit on the terrace with the windows /doors open.

I wished it had a bigger terrace. It would’ve been great to sit out on a terrace , but none of the buildings on the street have terraces to sit on however there was a tiny terrace that we put the iron table on and sat the chairs around and had wine and cheese and enjoyed the view so that really worked.
