Red House By The River

Loved the location and the view. There were also 2 great restaurants basically right outside the door. The air conditioning worked great and we appreciated the mini kitchen. Glad we chose to stay by the river.

The view was pretty amazing from the hotel. Rosa was very helpful. I think I visited every restaurant she recommended & they were all wonderful.

Being located right at the bridge. Noise was not an issue trying to sleep. A dream place to stay when you are visiting Portugal.

Location is indeed the best in Porto. Right next to the river and the bridge and on the quiet side of the bridge. Easy to get a car into and out of the property. Since it is so close to the riverside attractions, there is a lot of flexibility for our family members. Some can get up early in the morning to take photo of the bridge in thick fog. Some can stay out night for dinner and then walk back to the property. It is also pleasing to stand on the bridge and spot the Red House easily next to the river. As many people said, Rosa is a wonderful host waiting for our arrival, explaining in details of the rooms setup, showing us on map the nearby paths and attractions, suggesting travel options and informing us the Sunday marathon that would occur right in front of the house. The second floor apartment is the best that we experienced during my family’s trip to Portugal. The view outside the window is spectacular. The street outside can be noisy but closing the windows completely blocks the noise. Each room has an air conditioner. That makes summer stay so comfortable.

The rooms may be a bit pricey. But comparing with the other apartment my family stayed in Lisbon that is next to popular attractions, the fact that this Red House has double panel window to block outside noise and air conditioners just makes the stay so much more comfortable. So the price is worth it.

The apartment is charming and immaculately maintained, with thoughtful touches throughout. One of the standout features is the stunning view across the river—it truly elevates the entire experience. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming.

The stairs to and from the room is steep

Location was excellent for the river, bars and restaurants. Lovely view of the river from our room.

Would have been good to have some milk left in the fridge for a cuppa when we arrived. Also, there were numerous charges, for additional coffee capsules after one free capsule per person and for small packets of sweets, matches and night sleeping masks, it seemed a bit mean spirited.

The location and view of the river and bridge are incredible! There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and a small market reasonably close if you want some basic groceries. You can climb stairs for quick access to the top of the cliff, or catch the funicular on the Porto side. A great base for going out and sightseeing all day!

Just be aware there are about 30 steep stairs to climb up to the apartment.

Wonderful host! Rosa took the time to go through recommendations in the area. She clearly takes pride in her work and the accommodations. Amenities are great! Including dishwasher, washing machine and additional snack items for purchase. The view was amazing and a quick easy walk to the bridge. Was kept up a couple nights by very loud neighbours (patio/pub next door that attracts groups into the late hours), but this is to be expected on “main street” or very busy locations. Glad we stayed here nonetheless!
