"A Pleasant Surprise at Mandalay Bay"

6.0

I was staying at another casino during my most recent trip to Las Vegas, and after a disappointing experience there, we decided to walk the Strip and ended up at Mandalay Bay. I had stayed here once before several years ago and had a very negative experience involving a rude pit boss. At the time, the situation was so uncomfortable that we cashed out immediately— even the dealer commented that they didn’t blame us. We left in the middle of that trip, moved to another hotel, and hadn’t really returned to the casino since. This time, we were only planning to walk through briefly and then head out, but we decided to stop in the high-limit room and play for a bit. I’m glad we did. We had a great time. The dealers were friendly, dealt at a good pace, and made the experience enjoyable. The floor manager was also excellent—we spoke with him for a while before he had to move on, and he was professional and welcoming. While we did end up winning, that wasn’t the main reason the experience stood out. Our goal is always to have fun, and this time we genuinely did. It completely changed our perception of Mandalay Bay. The next day, my wife and I found ourselves saying that maybe it’s time to give Mandalay Bay another chance.

"Unpleasant Experience"

2.0

Our stay was quite stressful following a taxing journey from Japan due to a military permanent change of station. We arrived at 2 PM, yet our rooms were not ready until 7 PM, as they were still being cleaned. I had called a day in advance to confirm that our rooms would be connected, considering we have children, but regrettably, we were assigned two separate rooms located in different hallways, with one room situated far down near the exit doors, making it a considerable distance to check on our kids. When we reached out to customer service, we were assured that our rooms were guaranteed, which turned out to be untrue. Additionally, we had requested a high floor for a better view, but instead, we were placed on the 7th floor with no views whatsoever. Upon entering our rooms, we discovered that the bathroom floors were dirty and the sink was clogged, prompting us to contact the front desk for repairs or a room change. Fortunately, they responded quickly to address the issue, as the day's stress had already been overwhelming. Furthermore, the refrigerator was not available for personal use, and there were no basic amenities such as disposable toothbrushes, razors, or even complimentary water! I am uncertain what has transpired at Mandalay Bay, as we had previously stayed here numerous times as MLife military members, and it was always our preferred choice whenever we returned to Vegas, even after the traumatic experience we endured during the shooting at that country concert prior to our stationing in Japan. I doubt we will choose to stay at this hotel again in the future.

"Kafka-esque machine running that you have to navigate to be able to stay here"

4.0

This hotel was nothing but trouble. It's like a Kafka-esque machine running that you have to navigate to be able to stay her or checkout. Long check-in lines. No one at the check-in desk but iPads. God forbid you find someone to talk to, they will point in the general direction. 20min wait to talk to someone even from the room phone. The fridge in a room is really a vending machine. You are not allowed to use it. You touch something, ghost charges will show up on folio, which is also nearly impossible to get. I checked out 2 days ago and I am still struggling to find an invoice. I am never staying here again.

"Mandalay Bay: Overrated, Outdated, and Frustrating Experience"

2.0

We stayed on the 56th floor at Mandalay Bay, and overall it was extremely disappointing. The room felt outdated, with only the bathroom updated. There was no microwave or refrigerator, which made staying with kids very inconvenient. The counter and fridge had weight-sensitive items, many of which were dusty, and even the bottled water had heavy condensation, making it feel old and neglected. Parking is on the opposite side of check-in, forcing you to drag your luggage across the casino, which had a strong smoky smell and worn carpet—terrible for wheeled suitcases. The property is at the very beginning of the Strip, so you feel secluded and have to drive into the main Strip area for most tourist activities. On the plus side, once you pay the parking fee, you can park at other MGM properties like Bellagio for free. The internet constantly kicked us off every 30 minutes, requiring repeated sign-ins. We could not use self-check-in because of the “Chase Edit” promotions, which ended up doing very little: a room upgrade that was essentially nothing, no late checkout, a $100 property dining credit, and a welcome gift of a tiny bottle of water. To make matters worse, we did not receive a receipt after checkout. When we got home, we realized they overcharged us for four days of parking (or two valet) when we only stayed two days and self-parked. The hotel will not respond to emails, leaving us in the middle of a dispute. After this experience, it’s clear why Vegas is struggling—everything feels like nickel-and-diming, and you’re made to feel like you’re interfering when trying to get service. I would much rather stay at a normal hotel where you don’t have to reserve half your day just to park, check in, ride the elevator, and walk 20,000 steps to your room. Not sure why this is considered luxury or 4-star—definitely did not feel that way.

"Nice Hotel at the End of the Strip"

6.0

We were visiting Las Vegas for the Players Era basketball tournament. Some of the games were being held at the Michelob Ultra Center so we decided to stay at Mandalay Bay. We also heard about their great pools so we decided to stay there. We were unsure about the pools with the weather so we called ahead to make sure the pools were heated. We were told they were. The hotel itself is very nice and easy to get to. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. We do not gamble much but the Casio floor was nicer than most of the hotels we walked through. The hotel is at the very end of the strip. This made the hotel and casino not as busy which was nice. The only issue is it’s a hike to get to many of the other casinos or you need transportation. There are people movers which help but you still have to walk a lot. The pools looked like they could have been amazing. The only issue is that the wave pool was closed for resurfacing. The lazy river was just closed. This was a bummer. They did have a small pool and hot tub open but with the huge resort these were packed. Also when we were there it was so loud due to the work they were doing on the other pools. We spoke to someone at the front desk about this and were told the pools are seasonal. We wish when we called we would have been told about this. Especially since three was a $50/day resort fee. There were so many options for restaurants and food. It was all expensive, as everything in Vegas is but the variety was nice. The hotel seemed understaffed. At check in and check out there were only a couple of people at the counter. We had long waits at both of these times or when we had to stop to ask a question.

"Disappointing stay."

6.0

Clean hotel. Not impressed with the guest services. They do not give all necessary information. Very few people at the guest service desk. Multiple locations for self check in and check out. They charge a resort fee of $50+tax for each day. We were informed by guest services that this charge is for the WIFI and the fitness center. It was too cold to use the outdoor pools in December. In the room the snack shelves have a sensor. So, if you lift any snack to look, you will be charged. This includes the in room coffee as well. I made coffee using the single pod Keurig machine. We were charged $16 for this. All the hotels we have stayed, the in room coffee was complementary. There is a $50 charge per day to use the mini fridge. If you put your own water bottle, you will be charged $50. This has a sensor as well. House keeping cleaned the room for the first 2 day, did not show up for day 3. When we called guest services, we were rudely informed that house keeping needs to be requested. She did not tell us how to request. We checked for any sign on the door or any electronic switches outside the door for this request, there was none. Very disappointing stay. Will not be going there again.

"A comfortable fun place to enjoy Vegas!"

8.0

Stayed at the Mandalay Bay earlier this week and had a fabulous time! Check in did take about 45 minutes. Our room was clean but the bathroom definitely could have been cleaner. Lots of hair in the shower and tub when we arrived, and the toilet had not been cleaned. In room is coffee for purchase and a mini bar for purchase. There is not a fridge for personal use. The room was very spacious and had two closets which was perfect. You can hear everything from the rooms around you. We could hear every word said by the people in the room next to us. One night our next door neighbors played music partying until 4am. And you can hear people in the hallway all night long. The bathtub was super nice!! On the resort property we enjoyed the cardio center. The Moorea pool was open but was very very crowded, it was difficult to get a chair or swim. The restaurants on site are pretty good and you can easily hit the strip for more choices. A great stay and I would stay here again.
