South Lodge

The location and the grounds are gorgeous. The room had a great view and was very spacious, although the furniture etc. was a bit dated. The spa is amazing. Breakfast was lovely. Dinner at the Pass was definitely a highlight, cannot recommend it enough.

Nothing was really terrible but there were a few smaller things which one would not expect at a 5 star hotel. The wifi in my room was not working, as a result the tablet in the room also kept disconnecting, unless I stood directly in the door. I raised this right away and was told to try another network, which my phone did not find. I was told they might be able to move me "if there was space." Admittedly, there was a wedding party on site, so I assume there was other room but not really what you expect at a 5 star hotel. When I mentioned it at check out, I was told they would raise it with maintenance. No other compensation was offered. Pre-booking for breakfast at a 5 star hotel is also somewhat disappointing. Service in the bar and outdoors was also not that great. I sat down for quite a while and no one really seemed to be interested in asking me whether I might want to order something. No turndown service.

Breakfast was lovely , however menu has been reduced from previous visits .

The food portion was too small in my opinion and was still hungry after spending over £200 on dinner excluding drinks Fire alarm went off on one of the morning with no information provided to guests. We just all went for the nearest fire exit and when the alarm stopped - we all came back in . We didn’t see any staff members outside on the grass whilst the alarm was going off and definitely not every guest came out of their rooms !

The location is beautiful. The grounds are wonderful for walking and views to the back of the property extend for miles. Breakfast at the Botánica in the Spa was delicious and the restaurant very comfortable and attractively presented. Service everywhere was excellent.

Beautiful interior and the spa was very new and clean throughout.

The room was very hot - we had 2 sash windows open all night in April.

Convenient near my family & dog friendly . Beautiful grounds.

Unfortunately due to resent weather where dogs can go off lead was rather difficult & muddy
