Hyatt House Herndon/Reston

The extreme friendliness and helpfulness of all staff members, in particular the general manager. Wonderful room, very good breakfast in a comfortable breakfast room with enough tables and nice decoration. Very clean and welcoming hotel!

2am to 3 am very loud customer above me I called 911 when I became very concerned as the front desk did not pick up earlier in the evening when I was interested in inquiring about a wake-up call

It was easy to get to, close to food and shopping. Super clean!

The people and the room

The staff here are great. The facility is a different story. The common areas are ok, the gym is nice, and there's new carpet in the hallways, but the rooms reek of mold. For the first time after a decade of staying with hyatt, I could not spend the whole night here. I ended up getting in my car in the middle of the night and leaving because whatever was in there was making me ill and nothing in the room made me feel comfortable taking even my shoes off, let alone going to sleep. The light switches are all filthy, the wall paper in the bathroom is peeling off, and where they have placed the towel shelf you hit your head every time you use the toilet. Touch surfaces (doors, etc) are grimy, the kitchen chair is so worn the pleather is coming off, the windows, which you try to open to get rid of the stench, are either broken and replaced with plexiglass (1 of 4), or dirty and don't stay up. It didn't ultimately matter, even with all the windows propped open there is no relief from the smell. I spent about 4 hours there, and didn't feel well again until the next day. This property falls well below hyatt brand expectations with the exception of the staff, who are uniformly courteous and competent. The hotel needs to close for a gut remodel (to the studs) and undergo some kind of remediation.
