Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Very nice grounds and location. Room was a good sized room.

It's expensive for what it is. It's supposed to be a high end luxury hotel but we were out of the room from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm one day and housekeeping never came.

Although it was still under renovation construction it was an amazing experience. The people were great and the setting is phenomenal. We had reserved it through Chase Travel and had a wonderful breakfast for 2 daily as well as a $100 resort credit.

Lovely restaurant with stunning views of the lake and mountains. Kieran made us feel very welcome and was extremely helpful with recommendations on the menu and wine. The food was excellent. Altogether a great experience.

The facilities were excellent, although could have had a full-length mirror. Room views were outstanding. Staff was super helpful with check-in, valet, etc. Excellent location and beautiful balcony views of the lake and mountains. Enjoyed the Elderwood restaurant for dinner upon arrival. We could hear the speakers for the atmosphere music that is pumped into the lodge played throughout the night. Made for a less than restful night sleep. Second, we tried to have breakfast Saturday, June 13th, at Elderwood. The customer volume (which included an AMA convention) overwhelmed the kitchen and we waited 30 minutes to get a table; we were told 15-20. Then, 45 minutes after we ordered, our server (Vivian) told us it would be another 45 minutes to get our order. She graciously asked if we would like to cancel our order an no charge for the drinks and fruit we received. She recommended we go to Embark for grab & go sandwich. Vivian was friendly and knew we had a timeline for the day, so we appreciate her transparency and willingness to make things right for us. We got there at 8:30am and expected a wait. Just didn’t know this much and the wait estimates from the staff were not accurate.

Staff was nice enough at first but then we discovered an unwanted roommate at 9:45pm when I awoke to a rodent rummaging in my back pack. I called customer service and was told that the hotel was sold out so they offered a rodent trap and complementary snack. Snack? For us or the rodent?? I said, no, we need another room. I cannot sleep here with an unknown "guest". After 3 calls to the front desk and 2 hours later, we were standing outside waiting on our new found "available room". We stood around for 30+ minutes as multiple shuttles drove past. After 3 more calls, we were picked up and taken to our "new" room. Then the charge for the new room appeared on our card. Still waiting to make sure that clears. Since our stay was prepaid, they would not give us a refund but offered a $ 200 gift card. The property in Toronto was less quality service and nearly as disappointing. Stay elsewhere and save yourself a lot of money. Too bad I was too shocked to find the rodent and didn't get a fun picture to post.

The lodge is a spread out complex with beautiful, quiet grounds surrounded by the Canadian Rockies. We had a cabin overlooking the Athabasca River, and the room was recently renovated and quite spacious and clean. The big enjoyment here was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff and the excellent breakfast. Staff is well trained to promote helpfulness and kindness, and we were blessed by each and every staff interaction.
