"A Fairmont in name only"

My wife and I are staying at the Fairmont Palliser hotel in Calgary Alberta, Canada. This hotel is a Fairmont, in name only. Let's see: Phone in the room doesn't work, PPV movies don't work (they claim we're not "checked in" to the hotel, and my wife's key doesn't work. Restaurant service was courteous, but slow. Also, our room wasn't ready for an hour after promised check in. Besides these failings. It's a wonderful hotel (all sarcasm intended). "Over priced under valued "

There are multiple train tracks directly behind the hotel. The room I was given was right above the train tracks. From the time I check in at 8 pm until 11pm at least 10 trains went passed or parked directly outside my window. I contacted the front desk and asked if I could move rooms. I was told someone will call me back soon. 25 minutes later no one called me back so I called the front desk again and was out on hold for another 10 minutes. When someone eventually picked up my call I was told they can’t move me but will offer me a breakfast credit. Over all this hotel is over priced and under valued. I will not stay here again. It’s definitely not the standard I’ve come to expect from the Fairmont brand.

Beautiful, historic building with wonderful staff. Ben, concierge, was great! Check in was poor. Waited in line over 30” and our room was 1 3/4 hours later than check in. We didn’t have a place to change clothes.

"Would stay here again! A real get-away"

It is a beautiful place to stay, great location for down-town walking and access. There is only paid parking so if you don't want to pay, you'll have to find a location on the street somewhere. We'd definitely stay here again.
