Mercure Hotel Köln Belfortstraße

We had a fabulous stay at this hotel. It's only a short walking distance from the city centre, the cathedral and the train station so is in a good location in a nice peaceful area. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel room was lovely and clean, we stayed in the unmanned building across the road from reception. we took the train from the airport to köln central station and then a taxi to the hotel. Staff were amazing upon arrival as it was 11pm they showed us where we could get something to eat and gave us some maps. The day before our departure we asked reception if there was somewhere we could leave our luggage due to having an evening flight home and they told us it was possible. However come the next day they told us reception was closing and therefore could not leave our luggage anymore which was a slight inconvenience as we couldn't see the last few sights we would have liked to with three suitcases, this was the only bad thing about the trip.

The room was clean and modern and had everything you might need.

Stay was wonderful. Great price for the quality of the room. Extremely comfortable stay

About the minimum I would stay at. Nice staff. I would pick a more international chain.

Not the easiest of hotels to find with SatNav and Cologne streets but check-in was quick and efficient. We were upgraded immediately to the main block rather than the seperate block on the other side of the road. Ideal for a stopover and would use the hotel again if we were staying longer. Within easy walking distance of many of the attractions and close to the river for cruises and tours.

Lovely, clean room, great breakfast and overall very nice facilities and conditions.

Unfortunately, the lift was not working for the 3 days and I was on the 5th floor.

My wife and I stayed two nights here. The room was very comfortable. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and the hotel is only 15-20 minutes walk north of the train station. There is an excellent pool and fitness center at the hotel. The only downside is the hotel is split over two buildings so you may not be staying in the building with the pool. This made accessing the pool during the winter a little unpleasant, but its not a big deal

Checkin was laborious - room was cold and not huge but pleasant enough. The main bug bear was the 2 single beds pushed together - and to make it even worse, they had 2 single duvets - arrrgh!!!. Surely they must know, that 2 people in a room together sharing a bed, are going to be intimately involved and will want to get under 1 duvet. The curtain did not also close fully, leaving a gap of about 2 inches - not very much I know but as we were at the front of the hotel, the light from the hotel sign above the entrance became like a fluorescent strip light in the corner of the room. Basically it never got dark even with the curtains fully closed. Breakfast was fantastic, really huge choice. Swimming pool is not the most decorious but great for some serious lengths. Sadly for me there was no steam room just a small sauna - I hate saunas. All in all for a business trip the hotel was more than adequate, but my partner flew in from London to meet me and the single beds pushed together was a constant niggle The best thing was a local Sicillian restaurant just a (perfectly) short walk from the hotel - called Zippiri - best meal I've eaten in Cologne and truly entertaining/friendly staff.
