"Excellent service, comfy accommodation. ion"

10.0

This is a lovely hotel, a mix of modern & historic. Our room was warm, with a massive comfortable bed and a posh bathroom. Service from the valet parking, through check in and for all the meals & drinks was exemplary. Food was delicious & plentiful, drinks were excellent from local ales to fancy cocktails. Couldn't fault it really. There are bargain prices available too if you are lucky with your dates!

"Top notch food and service in a comfortable location."

10.0

We went to the Angel for a birthday lunch, and we were bowled over by the level of service, the food, and attention to detail from all the staff. Five in our party including one vegetarian, coats were hung up for those that wanted it, water poured for all of us and further drinks were ordered in a relaxed manner. The food was wonderful! I loved the Pickwick Pie! Others had Haddock and Chips and there was a roasted Cauliflower too. All of the staff were excellent, and one day we'll return when we are in the area.

"Go for the comfort, stay for the breakfast"

10.0

After a rather chaotic check-in (not the fault of the Hotel), the rest of the stay was faultless. Comfortable room with a view of the Cathedral, very comfortable bed. Location ideal for exploring the town. Dinner was very good, breakfast even better - probably the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. Highly recommended

"Would certainly stay again."

8.0

The staff were all really friendly and welcoming, the food and drink was great, rooms well appointed.

Bed was really firm, not an issue if you like that sort of thing.

"Very pleasant stay. Headroom for improvements to accommodation"

7.0

Location and upmarket

Lack of attention to detail with accommodation. Maintenance and freshening up of rooms is suggested. No USB points, mould in bathroom tile grouting, sloppy painting of walls around curtain holdback hooks, stain on the lift floor carpet etc.

"Excellent service"

10.0

Excellent service and choices at breakfast. When we arrived at the hotel and looking for the car park, we were greeted by Steve, who took care of our car and he escorted us to the reception. We stayed at this hotel before, this time we enjoyed it more. The room was clean, cozy with good amenities. The staff at breakfast were very attentive and the food was good.

"Delicious afternoon tea - A Christmas Carol"

10.0

A wonderful afternoon tea in the restaurant of this historic hotel. The food was amazing and my friend and I shared it as it was very large! Our waitress, Summer, was so attentive to our needs and was very efficient and chatty. I would certainly recommend it.

"Tired, no charm"

6.0

Stayed once before but this time found it to be tired (mainly upstairs/room) and well overpriced for what we experienced. Lovely welcome though from charming Ruth on the front desk. I had requested a light bright room, had booked one of the lower/mid category rooms so was delighted that she gave us room 124 which looks out on the front of the hotel. Happy with the size and facilities (comfy chairs, large cups for coffee/tea) but, it feels tired/old with a mish-mash of furniture in particular a plastic chair at the desk!!! Basic bathroom no style (good shower though), no shelf to put anything on like a washbag. Flooring and carpet felt and looked very cheap in need of a serious upgrade. Valet parking so easy with car.
