El Cordova Hotel on Coronado Island

We love this hotel. It gives a feel of having your own apartment on the island. The rooms is are clean and comfortable. The staff is welcoming and accommodating. The location is perfect. Close walking distance to the beach, dining, shopping, as well as the famous Del across the street.

My family and I have stayed at the El Cordova Hotel many times over the past several years. We love the casual Spanish style, the fantastic location, the size of the rooms, the value and comfy We have stayed for a couple’s getaway, family vacation and extended family getaway. Each stay has been wonderful! Staff is kind and helpful, Miguel’s, the onsite restaurant is delicious and the location, across Orange Avenue from the Hotel Del Coronado and the beach, is unbeatable. We love the El Cordova Hotel and we look forward to many future stays in this lovely boutique hotel.

Over all good. The bathroom needed a more thorough cleaning, smelled a bit. Otherwise clean and comfortable, wound definately stay here again. Great location

Hotel is nice hotel spanish built hotel. Hotel is older so somethings are not up to date. Hotel its self was fine stay at. Great hottub pool mexican restaurant in court yeard with fire pits. What kept my from raiting everything excellent was the lack of cleanliness people were experiencing. I was moved to 3 different rooms do t simpple issue with shower that should be an issue when staying at this of property. THey did make it right and gave a credit on part of my stay

The Worst Stay of My Life – Avoid at All Costs This hotel is nothing short of a nightmare. The moment I stepped in, I regretted my decision. The place is absolutely infested with cockroaches – I could literally hear them crawling across the ceiling at night, which made sleeping impossible. It was revolting. The rooms are filthy beyond belief – the dirtiest I’ve ever seen in all my travels. The so-called “amenities” are non-existent: the TV didn’t work, the service is completely absent, and the staff made zero effort to accommodate even the most basic requests. To make matters worse, they don’t even keep your luggage safely – a fundamental expectation of any hotel. This wasn’t just poor service; it was an outright disgrace. The entire place reeks of neglect and disrespect for paying guests. I can confidently say that hell itself would provide a more comfortable and hospitable stay than this disgusting excuse for a hotel. Verdict: Do not waste your money or your peace of mind here. It is hands-down the worst hotel experience I’ve ever endured.

We recently stayed at El Cordova, Room 75. The Not-So-Good Room Assignment Confusion: We had called ahead to confirm a deluxe 2-bedroom with three beds, but upon arrival, we discovered only one bed in each bedroom. After hauling our luggage down one set of stairs and up another, we were shown a “deluxe” option with three beds (Room 71), but its living and dining space was much smaller, and the place felt dark and dingy. It seems that rooms in the same category can vary widely, and it may be hard to know what you’ll get until you arrive. In the end, we returned to Room 75 and added a rollaway in the living room. Condition of Rooms: Clean but definitely well-worn. Bathrooms: Both were very small, outdated, and located at the back of each bedroom—making them inconvenient for the person sleeping in the living room. Appliances & Maintenance: The kitchen was missing a toaster and blender at check-in, though replacements were brought quickly. Unfortunately, the blender leaked, and the toaster didn’t work. I left a voicemail with the front desk, but no one returned my call—even though the flashing message light was visible when I later stopped by in person. Noise: Street-facing areas picked up some noise, while the courtyard side was much quieter. Housekeeping: We requested light housekeeping during a four-hour window on our second full day, but nothing was done while we were out. The Good Location: Unbeatable—directly across from the Hotel Del Coronado and surrounded by shops and restaurants. It felt like we were right in the center of everything. Spaciousness: Room 75 is a two-bedroom suite featuring a large living room, a spacious dining room, and a small kitchen. Each bedroom had a large walk-in closet, which was great for luggage and organization. Dining: The attached Mexican restaurant, Miguel’s, is excellent and worth a visit. Robes: Not luxurious, but convenient to have on hand. Overall El Cordova has a lot going for it—especially in terms of location and space (in certain rooms). Would I stay here again? Possibly, though I’d carefully weigh it against other options.

The Good: Great location in Coronado for a reasonable price. Right across the street from the beautiful Hotel Del. Close to lots of restaurants and shopping along Orange Ave. The Bad: Had to switch rooms due to thin walls and noise next door. Some of the rooms are right by/over a Mexican restaurant that closes at 9pm but still noise from staff cleaning and prepping. Parking is a challenge if you don't want to pay $40/day for a garage.

Exposed wiring, broken portable air conditioner, very limited storage, dirty floors, dirty bedding. I cannot recommend this hotel.
