El Cordova Hotel on Coronado Island

Loved our stay at El Cordova Hotel! The on-site restaurant was super convenient, the whole place had a cozy, homey vibe, and we were just minutes from Coronado Beach. Excellent experience all around!

We have been staying at the El Cordova for decades - sometimes two and even three times per year. It has always felt like home. We knew the managers on a first name basis and could frequently get perks because of our loyalty. However, circumstances have changed over the last couple years. Managers seem to shift often and it is difficult to develop a connection. Our last visit was a disappointment. We reserved a deluxe suite and they "upgraded" us to a handicap room. The kitchen was barely a kitchen and the table that was crammed in there was not useful. They couldn't get us the coffee that was compatible with the maker in our room even though we were there 3 days. The WiFi was terrible - it kept dropping in and out. I tested the download speed to be 1 Mbps! We explained that we reserved a suite and they said the deluxe rooms are not suites in the traditional sense. They kept pointing to the word deluxe and we kept pointing to the word suite. There are many other options available for staying on Coronado Island - which we will be exploring in the future.

We stayed in the Casa Grande Suite for one night. The staff was friendly and the restaurant in the hotel was amazing! Unfortunately the shower in the room did not work at all (thankfully there was a separate claw foot tub, so we made due) and the air conditioning for the side of the suite that had the rooms did not work either.

The best thing about this hotel is it is winin walking distance of the Hotel del Mar. The bathrooms are tiny, but it is worth it for the room prices.

The hotel El Cordova was a jewel. I loved the quaint and historic feeling of this boutique hotel. The pool was beautiful and the suite we stayed in was roomy, clean and we were able to use the fridge to store some food. Miguel’s Cocina serves delicious food at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed my stay here with the beautiful scenes on the tiles around the property. I felt like I had escaped to Spain. The location was great, close to shopping and the beach. A very walkable area. I would definite back to this hotel and the lovely area of Coronado. 💕

The description never said that parking onsite is limited. And in fact said no reservations needed. Paid 500+ USD for a night and had to park my car half a mile away. TV kept restarting and restroom had all night water dispersing in the flush. Overall, avg stay and not worth.

Friendly staff! Adorable historic spot. Perfect location. Great Mexican restaurant steps away from the rooms. We will be coming back next year!

After looking forward to staying at the El Cordova for years we were very disappointed. We were double charged for our stay upon check in, electrical breaker issues and requests for ice required a front desk visit, the refrigerator had Velcro on the door to keep it closed and hotel staff don't appear to enjoy their jobs seemed annoyed by questions and requests for service. The beds and proximity to the beach were bright spots in this otherwise dismal experience.

Met every need we had and more! Close to the beach and close to food and shops!

A real hidden gem!! Beautiful hotel with 5 min walk to beach! Surrounded by great eateries and shops. 1 bedroom suites great size, very clean and wonderful location!
