Allegro Cozumel All-Inclusive

We have been to Allegro Cozumel several times and based on this last stay, it is certain that it has been our last stay at Allegro. From unfriendly and bias staffing to poor and limited food quality, etc. it is with sadness that we are saying this was our last trip to Allegro Cozumel and we used to enjoy our trips. Not this time at all.

The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Lunch buffet and a la cartes were okay, but the dinner buffet left a lot to be desired ... bordered on terrible. Service was good all around including the Premium area where we stayed. The beach was not what I expected. The water was murky ... not clear like I remembered from years ago. I would probably rate it 3.5, but not a 4.

Service was excellent and the stay was great. Staff like Jesus Couoh, Arby, and Diego made the trip even better. They were personable and went out of their way to help you out. Jesus and the staff were excellent and their effort didn’t go unnoticed.

Diego, Omar, & Alfredo were extremely provided helpful and generous. For a full week they great service and I have 0 complaints. 10/10 on everything.

This was not the place for me but it did have some things others may like. I'll start with the good - * Each room has a hammock on the patio for a nice nap * Had apples and nuts as snacks in room * Area set up each evening for local artisans to sell their wares * Evening shows * Beach is relatively calm with easy access to the water * Only a few vendors walking the beach to bother you with selling trinkets * RCI - First Club access to a small pool, reserved beach area, and small buffet/bar all in a corner very close to each other * 4 pool areas * Room towels are larger than most hotel towels Now the not-so good (for me) * The food is about as bad as you can get. The buffet has similar things every night, not much variety. 8 hot items, a flat grill, salad bar (mostly different pre-made salads), breads, 2 soups, desserts * For 7 days of stays you only get 3 nights of the specialty restaurants - the other nights are buffet. * Mexican restaurant had decent food. The salad and dessert are buffet, only the entre is ordered and brought to you. The location is not great - the same place as the lunch buffet - between 2 swimming pools so it's loud and people are relatively close to you in their swim suits while you're trying to have a nice dinner. * Italian restaurant food was pretty bad. The tomato sauce is a green/brown color and to me tasted nothing like tomatoes. The salad and soup was on a buffet. * The buffets and Mexican are not airconditioned * There were a lot (60%+) of families with small children (noisy), even in the First Club area. * No umbrellas at the beach - only shade provided by the palm trees. * The beach chairs to not lay flat so if you want to tan the back-side, you're in the serpent pose * The activities pool is closest to the beach, directly across from the First Club Access pool, and next to the lunch buffet. You hear the activities coordinator over the intercom yelling through the activities (no luck having a quiet place to read/relax) * The shower in the room fluctuates temperature but has good pressure * The shows start each night at 9pm and are loud - can be heard in my room with the door and windows closed and over the TV sound * My room did not have the walk-in shower that's pictured, was a tub/shower combo * Had conjoining rooms but I couldn't lock the doors on my side. Had 2 locks that needed keys (didn't feel safe) * Room ceiling was a sheer fabric, not a solid drywall ceiling. * Service wasn't great. I bring money (even at an all inclusive) for tips and I went back home with most of my money. Many times at the buffet, I would be finished with my meal before I got a drink, and rarely got a refill unless I went directly to the bar to get it

We stayed here as a couple and were really looking forward to this vacation after reading so many positive reviews. The resort has many good qualities. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, there are several nice pools, and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. Housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. One of the specialty restaurants was definitely a highlight of our stay. The dinner, entertainment, and overall experience there were good. However, the biggest disappointment was the room. We were assigned a room with two separate beds. We requested a different room, but the process was complicated and required us to come back the next day, confirm the change, move our luggage, and wait again. As a couple on vacation, this was not very convenient, so we decided to stay where we were. The main issue was the sleep quality. The walls seemed extremely thin, and we could clearly hear conversations and noise from neighboring rooms. There was also a noticeable gap around the door, which affected both privacy and comfort. For the price we paid, the room did not meet our expectations. We were a little disappointed with the beach, as the water was not as clear as we expected from the photos. This may have been due to the weather, but it was still not what we had hoped for. Service was generally good, although not all staff members were equally welcoming. Some were very friendly and helpful, while others seemed less engaged. Overall, we had a pleasant vacation, but we expected more for the price paid. The resort’s biggest area for improvement is definitely the room quality and sleep experience. A small tip for future visitors: be prepared for persistent vendors in town. We found it difficult to explore and enjoy the area as we had hoped.

The resort grounds are beautiful and I loved getting to see the wildlife daily, especially the cute coati running around. Staff are very pleasant and work very hard. The bartenders were friendly and made great drinks. We have had much better rooms at other resorts but housekeeping did an excellent job to make sure we had a well stocked mini bar, tidy room to come back to each day and added the sweetest touch of leaving beautiful hibiscus flowers in a glass on the vanity. I liked that each room had a hammock on the porch. The beach was nice but we didn't enjoy as much as we wanted because of the seaweed at this time of year, nothing the resort can do about that. Food was good but changing up the buffet with a little more variety from day to day would be nice. Or allowing more reservations at the restaurants would be ideal, like 1 reservation for every 2 days of stay, rather than 1 for every 4 days. We only got a reservation for 9pm at the oriental restaurant which was well worth the wait. Anita was such a great chef on the hibachi! All of that dinner was enjoyed by our entire group. The daily activities, evening shows and disco club were enjoyed by all as well. Our trip was made even better by the activities host, Arbie. He was very interactive with guests and made sure everyone was involved and having a good time. Take his water aerobics class and play volleyball with him, so much fun!
