Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel

Location very close to M6

arrived 10 mins early, went into bar ordered 2 hot drinks, waited 20 mins then had to go up to bar to ask were our drinks were. Room cold, had to wait 30 mins for a staff member to come and check heater, faulty switch, bathroom smelt of damp and mattress was brick hard, hardly slept.In dire need of a revamp. Drinks expensive but food was good.

The public areas were great

Room was very poor - not very clean - bathroom door broken - extra lock on door broken - tv remote broken - ceiling falling in and more cobwebs than enough

Fantastic room on the ground floor which is what I asked for, friendly staff, lovely lake at the back. Food not so good

We met really good and helpful staff.

The staff were very helpful and friendly when we arred. The hotel suited our purpose however the corrdors smelled of damp, and there was no heating in bathroom..

Excellent breakfast (Stornoway black pudding available!). Nice room with view over the river. Very handy position, easy to access, just off the M6.

No negatives - all good.

Convenience. Just off the M6. Price was good for what we needed it for.

The decoration in the bathroom needs up dating. Paint coming off the ceiling. Also, did realise this until the morning, but not enough towels and the shower leaked all over the floor. Didn't report it as we had a quick turnaround. Didn't stay for breakfast as it was costly for a full English breakfast.
