Personnel aux petits soins, hyper accueillant et souriant. Au restaurant, les ingrédients locaux. Attention! C’est très bon et TRÈS copieux! Le bar, ambiance pub, pour rester dans l’ambiance locale. Et l’environnement est extraordinaire.

It is a beautiful family owned and run hotel with friendly staff and an outstanding restaurant. The lake view rooms provide a beautiful view of both the lake and church. The rooms are comfortable s and clean. Gougane Barra is my family’s favorite place in Ireland.

Absolutely loved everything about our stay here. It was our 10 year anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade. Dinner was excellent. The chef even came out for a little chat. Everyone was super friendly and helpful.

The hotel had a lot of character and history. We absolutely loved the displayed pictures and artifacts of what it looked like back in the day, people who worked there, what their restaurant's menu was decades ago, etc. It felt as though we got to spend a few days in an antique store. This certainly was a unique and heartwarming feature that set this hotel apart from any other property we stayed in on our week-long trip to Ireland. The preserved history reflected in the hotel's decor made it look and feel charming and authentic. The food we had at the hotel's restaurant for dinner and breakfast was locally sourced, fresh, and delicious. The menu options were somewhat limited, but everything we tried tasted great. The location of the hotel was exactly what we were looking for: the place is tucked away from the busy road, only a few other houses near to us, we could see adorable sheep a few feet across from our windows, and barely any random vehicles or people. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The only thing that some people may find deterring is the bathroom. As mentioned, the hotel is old, and the bathtubs are combined with showers. The shower curtains weren't waterproof, and the water soaked through the fabric and onto the floor. This wasn't a major issue for us, but we did have to spend some time figuring out how to keep the water from running on the floor.

A perfect location with a stunning lakeside view towards St Finbar's Oratory, with walks from the door, perfect spot to enjoy the forest park. Fantastic breakfast. Cosy bar. Interesting decor and paintings throughout the hotel. Good sized room with chairs and coffee table. Next door there is a good cafe, bar and gift shop.

The sound travelled through the rooms and I was kept awake by another guest's snoring.
